When performing dental procedures, patient comfort and satisfaction is of the utmost importance. That’s why Hager Worldwide created Comfi-Tips, a wraparound foam protector designed to increase patient comfort and safety while reducing noise and improving performance during suctioning.

Ease of Use

Ideal for dental hygienists as well as dentists, Comfi-Tips wrap around the tips of saliva ejectors and high-volume evacuators to protect the patient from discomfort, injury, and pressure.

After trying Comfi-Tips for several weeks, Julia Cucinella, a hygienist practicing in Arroyo Grande, CA, decided that “the tips fit very securely and never came off unless I wanted to remove them.” With a simple slip-on design, the foam protectors are “easy to put on,” said Dr. Jeanne Spence, a dentist based in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Prevents Blocked Suction

With Comfi-Tips, clinicians have a solution to prevent blocked suction, tissue grab, micro lacerations, contaminated aerosols, and unpleasant patient pressure, while also reducing the noise level during suction. “I was able to provide ultrasonic scaling without constantly adjusting the evacuation tip for patients whose tongue and cheek get pulled in due to the suction,” Cucinella shared. “The Comfi-Tip prevents that blockage.”

Patient Comfort

"I especially appreciated the comfort for patients when using suction during ultrasonic scaling," shared Cucinella. Because the Comfi-Tips’ design protects patients from excess suction, she said, “The cheek and tongue do not get pulled into the evacuation tips, which provides more comfort for the patient and eliminates tissue trauma.”

In addition, the single-patient-use design of Comfi-Tips prevents cross-contamination and provides increased patient comfort. “My patients found it comfortable while I was providing the suction,” Cucinella said.

Eager to continue using Comfi-Tips in her practice, Cucinella proclaimed, “I would continue to use them for ultrasonic scaling procedures. This was my favorite use for them.”
