How long do medical records need to be kept? What's the shelf life of sterilized instruments? What on earth is an exposure control plan, and how often must it be reviewed? If these questions keep you awake at night, Compliance Training Partners (CTP) has answers that will have you sleeping soundly in no time at all.

Karson Carpenter, DDS, is the President of CTP, which last year trained over 60,000 dental staff members. He traces CTP’s roots back to 1988, when he authored a compliance training manual for a dental assistant school. After that, word spread fast. “Doctors who hired assistants from the school were telling us their assistant knew more about compliance than they did. They realized they also needed education but didn't know where to start. That’s how CTP began,” said Dr. Carpenter. “Compliance is not as difficult as people make it out to be, but you need a system that organizes the components of a compliance plan. That’s where Compli comes in.”

“Patients and employees are aware of infection control at a much higher level than ever before."

Insurance for the 'What Ifs?'

CTP, a partner with Henry Schein Dental, offers OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC infection control training, and has assisted practices with HIPAA, OSHA, and CDC inspections in nearly every state across the country.

Online courses can be completed anytime, and in the case of an unexpected OSHA or HIPAA inspection, guidance is just a phone call away. The CTP dashboard consists of 2 modules—OSHA/ Infection Control and HIPAA—each under 3 hours long. Participants who pass an exam at the conclusion of the module receive CE credits and a written certificate of annual training.

Practices choose from 2 tracks: the Compli track for $595 per location or the CompliPlus track for $1,195 per location. Both tracks include phone/ online/chat technical support. CompliPlus customers also receive updated online manuals, HIPAA/ OSHA required labels, forms, and written plans, and important wall charts. Subscriptions are renewed automatically each year.

“It’s important to be in compliance if an inspection occurs, because it offers protection from liability. Without it, offices are vulnerable. We're seeing that because of the pandemic, patients and employees are aware of infection control at a much higher level than ever before," Dr. Carpenter said. "Compliance knowledge increases your ability to educate patients and staff, which makes them more comfortable and ensures that the practice is both a safe and successful business."
