If you work in dentistry, you wear gloves all day, every day. So, it’s a given that gloves must be soft and comfortable, yet also resistant to rips. That's why the newest addition to Henry Schein's CRITERION glove family—the CRITERION Chloroprene Exam Glove—blends the comfort and fit of a latex glove with the synthetic strength of nitrile. These puncture- and tear-resistant gloves also have microtextured fingertips for a secure grip and improved control during procedures.

"The microtextured fingertips were especially effective when exploring deep pockets and challenging anatomy of root surfaces," said Johanna Munns, RDH, who practices in Madison, WI. "When gripping instruments, they added extra security without limiting tactile function."

The aqua blue gloves have an interior polymer coating that allows for easy donning even when hands are wet or damp. "The softness of the gloves was an easy transition compared to the nitrile gloves that I wear every day, and they didn't leave my hands feeling dry during long procedures," added Munns.

A Nonlatex Alternative

For Texas hygienist Allison Koska, the CRITERION Chloroprene Exam Gloves feel very close to a latex glove. “We still use latex gloves in our office because the doctors don’t like the feel of nitrile gloves; some find them to be slippery,” Koska said. "These gloves have a textured feel instead of being slippery, which is far better for me because I tend to feel like I’m going to drop my instruments when I’m wearing a nitrile glove."

Extended-Wear Comfort & Dexterity

These super-soft CRITERION chloroprene exam gloves feature a 9.5-inch cuff length and a 3.54-mil thickness at the palm. "I feel comfortable wearing these gloves, especially in the wintertime when my hands tend to be drier and more sensitive from the Wisconsin weather," Munns shared. "My hands also didn't feel restricted or irritated."

“Overall, these gloves are a great alternative to latex gloves and are a very viable choice for my office, especially for those patients who have a latex allergy," Koska agreed.

"The grip is great—I much prefer having a textured feel rather than a slippery smooth nitrile glove," she added. "They are slightly looser than the medium size in other gloves I’ve worn, so they don’t constrict my hands as much. Plus, in my experience, they are comfortable throughout the entire treatment.”
