Robust and user-friendly CAD software makes it easy for dentists of all skill levels to design functional and esthetic restorations

Whether you’re a beginner or an expert in dental CAD software—or somewhere in between—DentalCAD provides a pathway for dentists on both ends of the spectrum to design beautiful and functional restorations for their patients. Best of all, they can do so using a single integrated platform.

Design Freely

Integrating with a wide selection of intraoral scanners, mills, 3D printers, and materials, exocad gives dentists the freedom to choose the CAM technologies that work best for their workflow. Additionally, extensive implant and denture tooth libraries meet the needs of virtually any restorative design scenario.

Thanks to its open architecture, DentalCAD makes it easy to bring together multiple data sources that are relevant to the case, such as intraoral and model scans, 3D face scans, jaw motion data, DICOM fi les, and patient photos.

“DentalCAD’s open software architecture eliminates having to stop and move to third-party software programs to complete the work. It's one software from the beginning to the end of the case, which eliminates errors,” said Richard L. Zimmermann, DDS, a faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. He teaches his residents there to produce designs for diagnostic wax-ups and full-arch implant-supported restorations using DentalCAD.

Extensive Tooth & Material Library

With the core version of DentalCAD, clinicians can use the software’s extensive tooth and material libraries to design anatomic crowns, anatomic/ simple copings, attachment shapes, full-contour bridges and framework, inlay and onlay restorations, veneers, wax-ups, and telescopic crowns. When it's time to design, a user-friendly wizard guides clinicians through each step of the restoration design and production process.

“Over the years I have worked with just about every CAD software, and I’ve always preferred exocad above all the others,” Dr. Zimmermann added. “DentalCAD is an intuitive system with extensive tooth and material libraries, as well as pathways that are simple to use. It’s fast and easy to learn, even when we’re designing complex cases.”

Add-On Modules

A large selection of add-on modules provides clinicians with even more options for their restorative workflow, including design tools for custom abutments, screw-retained bridges, standard and complex bars, therapeutic night guards, temporary crowns and bridges, and full dentures. For example, create added value for patients using the Smile Creator module, a digital wax-up tool that shows a 3D smile in real time from various angles. There are also add-on modules to support jaw motion import, visualization of voxel data from CT machines, dynamic occlusion, and partial framework design.

“DentalCAD guides you through the design process using either a simple pathway or a customized expert mode,” added Dr. Zimmermann, which he said makes his life much easier. “It’s
