Dentis USA: SQ Guide

Intuitive kit allows dentists to predictably place implants with the option of designing guides themselves or through the new Digital Design Center

No matter how good you become at placing implants, there’s always a chance that your work dentis usa sq guidecould be a little off—and that, of course, negatively impacts the final outcome. With a surgical guide, dentists have the opportunity to design cases virtually, and then use the template created to predictably and efficiently place implants exactly where they need to go.

“I believe in using a guide for every implant case,” said Dr. Jason Chen, who relies on the SQ Guide from Dentis USA in his practice. “If you can place an implant perfectly from a surgical and a restorative standpoint, why wouldn’t you? I place a ton of implants, and I can safely say that I want a guide on every case. In other words, I want my life to be easy and my surgeries to be boring.”

Dr. Chen, who owns Nice Teeth Dental in San Leandro, CA, has used surgical guides for implant cases since 2008, with the SQ Guide becoming his go-to option last year. As a faculty member for Dentis USA’s Global Dental Implant Academy (GDIA), he also teaches other dentists how to predictably place implants using the guide, which can be designed in-house or through the new Digital Design Center.

The SQ Guide kit offers many advantages, including fluting that makes it possible to irrigate the drills so they don’t get hot, which is a critical feature. “With guided surgery, you run the risk of heating up the bone and killing it,” Dr. Chen said. “This has a nice design where it allows the irrigation to go in better.”

The kit’s drills are among the narrowest on the market, Dr. Chen said, which makes it possible to reach teeth in areas where other drills or sleeves don’t fit. He appreciates that the drills are sharp, giving them longevity. They’re also well organized and intuitive, saving even more time.

“I can place an implant in 7 minutes with this guide, maybe 5,” Dr. Chen said. “It’s just so fast.”

Be Better Prepared

With the SQ Guide, dentists go into an implant procedure knowing exactly what to expect. They know where the vital structures are—for example, if they can simply punch a hole to place an implant or need a surgical flap to move tissue, as well as what implant size will work best. This all results in stress-free procedures that take less time and offer more predictable outcomes.

“You’re not going to be perfect when you place an implant freehand,” Dr. Chen said. “The guide is not there to replace your surgical skill or knowledge. It’s another reassurance that allows you to predictably and confidently complete your case.”
