More Efficient Solutions
Bruno pointed to Dentsply Sirona’s Class II restorative solution as an example of a group of products that work together to offer better, more efficient clinical outcomes and bottom-line results. The procedure includes Palodent matrix systems, Prime&Bond elect adhesive, SDR flow+ bulk fill flowable, SmartLite Pro curing light, TPH Spectra ST universal composite, and Enhance finishing. “If you use Dentsply Sirona products combined with the education that we provide, we can drive efficiency during the procedure, and it can lead to greater efficiencies and reduced work after the procedure,” Bruno said.
As part of its effort to launch products that solve problems for dental professionals, Dentsply Sirona introduced Surefil one, a self-adhesive composite hybrid that is designed to eliminate steps and save time in cases compromised by difficult cavity isolation, poor patient compliance, or other issues. “Surefil one is designed to take what is a 10- to 15-step process and turn it into as few as 5 steps,” said Chris Little, Vice President, Strategic Marketing. “And if 1 out of 4 cases presents with some degree of uncertainty for the clinician, we’re really excited about Surefil one being a phenomenal option for those cases, and potentially all cases when dentists want to be really sure that they’re going to have a good patient outcome.”
Innovations That Transform
Recent advancements include innovations in imaging. Axeos, a versatile 3D/2D cone beam unit with numerous volume sizes of up to Ø 17×13 cm and outstanding image quality, provides the fullest range of functions of any of the company’s extraoral x-ray machines. Schick AE intraoral sensors offer superior image quality and advanced filtering enhancements to further the diagnostic potential. Both new technologies allow for greater practice efficiency and introduce opportunities for procedural expansion.
“These are meaningful innovations— they’re transformational,” said Bruno. “Axeos is not just a piece of equipment— it can be a growth engine for the practice, which can support implants, endo, and other procedures and services with 3D cone beam.”
Creating a Full-Service Practice
Such technologies also help dental practices serve their patients better by performing more procedures in-house. The father-son team at Krause Comprehensive Care in Montville, NJ, uses the Primescan intraoral scanner as the starting point for various workflows, including same-day restorations with their CEREC milling unit, and they take cone-beam scans to accurately plan their computer-guided implants and endo procedures. “The way we run our office here is we’re kind of a 1-stop shop, except for really advanced perio,” Dr. Alan S. Krause said. “I think patients really like that because they’re able to get everything done without going elsewhere. People don’t like going to another office, so we only refer as a last resort.”
As part of its effort to help practices grow and adopt better workflows, Dentsply Sirona is heavily invested in education and rewards for its customers. As the first manufacturer to introduce CAD/CAM technology to the dental world over 3 decades ago, Dentsply Sirona has stayed true to its mission of continuously researching and innovating its technology. Dentsply Sirona’s latest-generation intraoral scanner is Primescan, with many clinicians telling DPS that the Primescan surpasses all others they’ve used. Enabling efficient workflows, Primescan is the ideal starting point into digital dentistry. The fast, accurate, and easy-to-use technology is a vehicle for practice growth and expansion into clear aligners, implant placement, and sleep apnea treatment. Primescan is open to any major lab software and can also be used in the chairside CAD/CAM workflow with CEREC Design software.
Heather Richardson, a dental assistant in Indianapolis, IN, has experience with a number of Dentsply Sirona digital scanners. “It’s been so seamless going from the Redcam, to the Bluecam, to the Omnicam, and then the Primescan,” said Richardson. “Scanning with the Primescan is amazing compared to what the Omnicam was. With the Primescan, we do a lot of ortho workups, and it’s so cohesive because you can see the model right away.”
A Seamless Workflow
With Primescan, you can also take advantage of SureSmile, Dentsply Sirona’s full-service clear aligner solution that integrates seamlessly with most scanners. For this workflow, the dentist uploads a fullarch scan, along with photos taken at the fi rst appointment, to SureSmile’s Digital Lab. From there, the data and images are stitched together to create a treatment plan. The practice reviews and approves the plan before the aligners are fabricated in a state-of-the-art process using industry-leading Essix material.
“It’s been a seamless process and I have had to do very little alteration of anything that I’ve sent out,” said Dr. Marc Zive, adding that patients have been pleased with their SureSmile treatment.
CEREC Milling Units for Single-Visit Dentistry
A key component of single-visit dentistry is the milling unit. Richardson said her team has enjoyed a great deal of success with their CEREC milling unit, which she said made the practice much more efficient. “Single visits are amazing,” said Richardson, commenting on the accuracy she’s experienced with CEREC restorations. “Being able to adjust the occlusion before even getting it in the patient’s mouth, as well as being able to design and fi t it in one visit is a huge bonus.”

Extraoral Imaging Solutions
Dentsply Sirona’s world-class extraoral imaging systems are tailored to the needs of the practice, providing easy adaption and flexibility. They support diagnosis, planning, and treatment right from the start.
The latest 3D/2D imaging solution is Axeos. The system, which uses intelligent low-dose exposure to capture high-quality images, offers enhanced clinical confidence, smart connectivity, and an exceptional experience, with the largest fi eld of view of any Dentsply Sirona 3D/2D system. Specifically, the unit has a 5-cm volume designed for local findings, such as endodontic issues or single implants, as well as an 8-cm volume for lower and upper jaw dentition, which can be used for planning multiple implants. Taking design options a step further, Axeos also offers an 11-cm volume for complete dentition, including wisdom teeth, and a 17-cm volume for temporomandibular joints and the cranial base.
Another high-quality 3D/2D member of the family is the Orthophos S 3D. The hybrid unit offers a full range of capabilities to support all 2D and 3D tasks in the practice. Its CsI sensor with autofocus function ensures clear images, even in anatomically difficult cases.
The patented occlusal bite block automatically positions patients. For use in orthodontics, the Orthophos S is also available with an optional ceph arm. Both the ceph arm and 3D upgradability can be retrofitted at any time.

Dr. Arthur Volker has been providing successful long-term restorations with Prime&Bond elect in its various generations since 2000. “It’s been amazing in terms of its clinical reliability,” said Dr. Volker. “It’s easy to apply, and I like that the solvent is acetone based so it evaporates very quickly. So, it’s a bit less technique sensitive.”
SDR Flow+ provides excellent cavity adaptation in a bulk-fill flowable composite that self-levels and leads to significantly less shrinkage. Its undeniable benefits make it another key player in the innovative machine of Dentsply Sirona’s solution for Class II restorations.
A universal composite, TPH Spectra ST uses a combination of optimized handling, simplified esthetics, and reliable longevity to
promote efficiency, expansion through profitability, and a superior experience. The SphereTEC filler technology offers ideal results by overcoming limitations in composite design. The composite is offered in 2 handling options—a creamy and spreadable low viscosity or a fi rm and packable high viscosity—to accommodate preference and technique for placement efficiency. This universal composite has earned its place in Dentsply Sirona’s Class II solution thanks to the versatile handling that allows it to adapt easily to cavity surfaces and keeps it from sticking to hand instruments.
Other key components of the restorative workflow are the Palodent matrix systems, which provide accurate contacts and natural contours at your fingertips—without bulky equipment, obstructions to your space, or extensive interproximal finishing; the SmartLite Pro modular LED curing light, which uses a collimated light beam to deliver more energy over distance for a reliable cure at the most vulnerable interface; and Enhance, the only finishing system that can achieve both intermediate and final finishing in a single step.

For example, Midwest E electric handpieces offer both power and flexibility to accomplish a wide range of procedures, making this a versatile tool for any practice. Its lightweight motor and attachments are perfect for all-day use. The handpiece includes an LCD touchscreen to adjust for low-speed, high-speed, and endodontic procedures.
Another option is the Midwest Phoenix, whose small head packs 30% more power than legacy Stylus versions. For 20+ watts of power, clinicians have greater tactile control and improved performance. Successful Temporaries
For Dr. Christina Do of Costa Mesa, CA, a favorite Dentsply Sirona product is Integrity TempGrip, which she has been using for over 5 years. This temporary crown and bridge cement—an automatically mixed, 2-component material in 1 syringe—is used for indirect restorations and allows secure retention of restorations, as well as easy removal and cleanup. “Unlike other temporary cements, Integrity TempGrip helps temporaries have great retention so they stay on and don’t come out easily,” shared Dr. Do. She also appreciates its ease of dispensing and cleanup.
High Strength & Esthetics
Dentsply Sirona recently expanded its range of zirconia blanks to include Cercon ht ML, a highly translucent hybrid zirconia with various shade layers. While developing Cercon ht ML, Dentsply Sirona’s material scientists particularly focused on high esthetics and strength—based on customer requests and more than 20 years of experience with zirconia. The result is a hybrid zirconia for monolithic restorations from single crowns up to 14-unit bridges. This is achieved by combining extra translucent and highly translucent zirconia in a special layer structure in the disc.

Dentsply Sirona recently unveiled DS PrimeTaper. The implant system is designed to increase long-term success by enhancing bone stability. The self-tapping implant features a tapered, double-thread design that can be inserted quickly, safely, and easily. Using a simple drilling protocol with only a few different drills, the implant was engineered to provide greater primary stability at placement, which enables immediate restorations. The implant is available in diameters from 3.6 to 5.4 mm and lengths from 6.5 to 17 mm.
“The implant features a simplified drilling protocol and it’s easy to place,” said Dr. Dan Butterman, who practices in Centennial, CO. “It also works well for patients with less than optimal bone environments.”

Nupro White Varnish is formulated for an easy application and a rapid fluoride release. It is ideal for hypersensitivity relief with its 5% sodium fluoride and high-level release of 7 times the amount of fluoride over a short wear period compared to other fluoride varnishes. This varnish can be easily applied to wet teeth and is visible during application but dries clear. It needs to be worn by patients for only 2 hours, so they can resume eating and drinking after a short period of time.
For polishing, the Nupro RDH Hygienist Handpiece is an ergonomic choice. Designed to neutralize hand position and improve maneuverability with its 360° cord swivel, which helps gain access to difficult areas, this handpiece makes teeth feel shiny and smooth with minimal hassle. With the Nupro Freedom Cordless Prophy System, the user can move freely around the operatory while using the handpiece. The speed and power of the prophy cup can be adjusted simply by pressing it against the tooth.
Nupro Prophy Paste has 4 grit options, from coarse to smooth, all of which target stains without damage to the enamel.
