Infection Control has never been more important than it is today! Dental practices have been extraordinarily effective in preventing transmission of bloodborne pathogens, with not a single case of HIV transmission from patient to provider ever documented. SARS-CoV-2 has brought the possibility of airborne transmission in the dental setting to the forefront. The CDC and OSHA continue to update the COVID-19 infection control guidance for dental/ambulatory settings. With many mixed messages coming from the U.S. federal agencies, the focus of this presentation will be on best practices and technologies available in infection prevention and control in dental settings, taking into consideration changes that may occur with SARS-CoV-2 variants. This presentation will continue the focus on the latest information available to ensure the safest dental visit for both the dental team and those we serve.
