WILLIAM CARTEE, DMD

Dr. Cartee graduated with his dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2017. He currently owns and operates Dental Concepts & Implant Center in Lexington, KY. His practice is known for offering leading-edge dentistry and using state-of-the-art technology and dental equipment while creating a welcoming, supportive environment for patients. He is a member of several professional associations that provide continuing education opportunities, as well as a key opinion leader for Axsys Dental Solutions.

A technology enthusiast who routinely stays on the cutting edge of dental care, Dr. William Cartee began his chairside milling journey several years ago with the Versamill 5X450 from Axsys Dental Solutions. “The 5X450 was and still is a fabulous machine,” he said. “Because we do a high volume of implant dentistry, we recently upgraded to the Versamill SPEED 7 Series so we could mill larger volumes of titanium bars and zirconia hybrids.”

Dr. Cartee and his team at Dental Concepts & Implant Center now use the AX726DW-PRO, a member of the SPEED 7 Series, exclusively for these applications with tremendous success.

“It can’t compare to other machines on the market. We can mass-produce any material with peace of mind that we will get high-end results in a timely fashion,” he said. “We are milling high-precision titanium bars faster, as well as producing zirconia hybrids with so much detail that our presintered contouring time is greatly reduced.”

A Flexible Milling Workflow

The new AX726DW-PRO is a dry or wet milling machine featuring an 18-position robotic autoloader, allowing clinicians to maximize productivity through overnight and weekend machine operation. “My lab technicians are too busy to babysit a mill,” Dr. Cartee said. “The autoloader allows them to focus on designing and characterization, which are equally important. Faster turnaround times are much more attainable.”

Equipped with a servo motor and liquid-cooled, high-torque spindle with 3 hybrid-ceramic bearings, the AX726DW-PRO enables detailed milling of virtually any material to create prostheses with clean, thin restorative margins.

Additionally, the machine boasts a small footprint and intuitive, 5-axis control. It is available in 3 unique color options—Clinician Blue, Sage Wisdom, and Charcoal. All Axsys mills easily pair with any CAD or CAM software, with customizable CAM templates available for GO2cam or hyperDENT to mill most complex cases, including full-arch restorations.

“The integration of hyperDENT with our design workflow is seamless,” Dr. Cartee assured. “My 2 lab technicians each employ different CAD software, but both integrate well into hyperDENT. On the rare occasion we have any issues in hyperDENT, the team at Axsys provides quick, high-quality support.”

Unmatched Customer Support

“I have heard horror stories from other providers about jumping into in-house production and spending tens of thousands of dollars with poor support on the backend,” Dr. Cartee said. “The AX726DW-PRO is the best mill on the market, but even the best mill needs quality support on the front and back end.

“Luckily, Axsys is there every step of the way, eliminating any potential frustrations of bringing production in-house. Their customer support is the best I’ve experienced in the dental industry.”
