Bundled glass fiber-reinforced resin post system offers the benefits of a post while mitigating the risks associated with post-and-core buildups
What challenges has this product helped you overcome?
Post and core buildups have always represented the ultimate “risk-benefit” paradigm in restorative dentistry. In a given clinical circumstance, does the added core retention provided by a post outweigh the short- and long-term risks introduced by preparing and placing that post? The development of fiber post technology and improvements in adhesive dentistry have changed the way we look at post and core buildups. Rebilda Post GT is simply the next evolution in post and core technology that gives me the opportunity to capitalize on the benefits provided by a post while mitigating the risks.
Why is Rebilda Post GT better than similar products that you’ve used?
Rebilda Post GT has several advantages:
• The single-solution kit carries the integrated components, including adhesive (Futurabond U), a dual-cured core material with low film thickness and great strength (Rebilda DC), and most critically, resin fiber post bundles in a variety of dimensions that provide the utility that normally would require the combination of single fiber posts with added accessory fiber cones.
• This approach allows for a monoblock approach to post-and-core buildups where the resin-reinforced fibers, the canal cement, and the coronal core material all become one integrated mass of material.
• Monoblock core techniques have been around for a while, but the benefit of passive fiber distribution within the canal for reduced C-factor/unsupported resin volume as well as the fanning out of fibers outside the canal orifice provide the most stable scaffolding for my buildups.
• Rebilda Post GT also allows for the most thoughtful approach to post space preparation, which really means maximum radicular dentin preservation.
What made you decide to purchase Rebilda Post GT?
The benefits of bonded fiber posts compared to cemented rigid posts (such as metal and zirconia) are well supported in the literature. I have embraced this approach with great outcomes in clinical practice for over a decade. Rebilda Post GT just provides a new and more complete solution for such procedures where I can not only handle the straightforward cases, but also tackle those that are more challenging, like curved and irregular shaped canals that sometimes fell victim to “rigid” material specs and preparation protocols.
