Following this, the patient was provided with precise-fitting and sealing KöR Whitening trays to use at home. These trays require very detailed scans or impressions. The patient was then advised to use a KöR at-home nighttime whitening protocol containing 16% carbamide peroxide whitening gel. The patient used this gel and then returned to the office for a 2-week progress check (Figures 7-9). For the next phase of treatment, our patient returned home and continued the nightly whitening protocol containing 16% carbamide peroxide gel for 2 more weeks.
The patient then returned for his office treatment after completing a total of 4 weeks of KöR nighttime whitening and was extremely happy to show us his brighter smile (Figure 10). For this in-office treatment, retractors and a gingival barrier, both included in the KöR kit, were placed to ensure there was no leakage onto soft tissues. To help with any possible sensitivity, the KöR Complete Desensitizer was placed for 30 seconds and then rinsed off. KöR’s 34% Dual-Activated, Tri-Barrel Hydremide Peroxide gel was applied. This is a dual-activated system, which requires mixing the individual whitening barrels together. The treatment was concluded with another application of the KöR Complete Desensitizer. During this entire treatment, the patient was relaxed, listening to music, and comfortable.
