GIBSON Healthcare Bone Graft Plug
According to the American College of Prosthodontists, more than 36 million Americans are edentulous, and 120 million people in the U.S. are missing at least one tooth—a staggering statistic that is expected to grow over the next 2 decades. Implant therapy is an obvious choice for these cases, but not every patient is the ideal candidate, as many lack enough healthy bone to support an implant. That’s where guided bone regeneration procedures come in.
A Leader in Regenerative Materials
Benco Dental launched its first GIBSON Healthcare product 20 years ago and has since become a key resource for regenerative and surgical dental products—from xenografts to sutures to its popular collagen wound dressings. This vast product portfolio includes allograft, xenograft, and synthetic bone grafting materials distributed by Benco Dental.
Support New Bone Formation
The GIBSON Healthcare Bone Graft Plug is designed to aid in filling bone voids and maintain space in extraction and implant sites to enhance preservation of the alveolar ridge. A calcium phosphate-based mineral with a synthetic carbonate apatite structure similar to natural bone, the GIBSON Plug mimics natural bone as shown in vivo resorption and remodeling profile.
Osteoconductive and highly porous, the GIBSON Healthcare Bone Graft Plug is approximately 80% mineral combined with 20% Type 1 Achilles bovine tendon collagen. The low crystallinity of carbonate apatite supports bioresorption, and the synthetic mineral has been shown to increase the bone forming of osteogenic cells as well as enhance bioresorption of bone by osteoclasts.
Easy-to-Handle Bullet Shape
Used in guided bone regeneration and guided tissue regeneration procedures to support new bone formation at a surgical site or in preparation for implants, GIBSON Plugs are conveniently shaped and available in 2 sizes—10 × 20 mm and 6 x 25 mm—for easy handling and placement without the traditional need to mix particulates. The plug expands to fi ll the socket site when hydrated, which maintains space and minimizes particle migration.
