Growing the Practice with Clear Aligners

For Dr. Lawrence Brent, the switch to SureSmile Clear Aligners a couple years ago not only brought simplicity and success to a service that he previously found challenging, it also opened up a new stream of revenue for the practice. Working with other clear aligner systems in the past, his cases only tracked at about 50%, and the turnaround times for treatment plans and tray delivery were too long. Frustrated with the process, he didn’t do much to promote aligner therapy in his New Jersey practice.

“It’s very easy for me to generate a significant chunk of revenue without a lot of heavy lifting,” Dr. Brent said. “The initial visit, depending on IPR and attachments, is generally not more than half an hour, and maintenance visits are quick and easy. I have to work much harder to generate $5,000 or $6,000 of revenue doing crowns, fillings, or root canals.”
Because of the quality of the aligners, Dr. Brent is comfortable keeping more challenging cases in-house. Patients are also more likely to accept treatment if they know they’re receiving treatment via clear and comfortable aligners that provide predictable results. “Most of the cases I’ve done have been 10 to 15 aligners, but I have a patient who recently started treatment who has 42 aligners,” Dr. Brent said. “Really significant movement is achievable with this system.”
