Handling Occlusal Marking Accurately

An articulating foil of only 12 microns with an attached handle for a more convenient experience when measuring occlusal markings

Dr. Cheryl Bingham uses Bausch's Arti-Fol metallic Complete BK 328 on all of her patients because she understands the importance of checking occlusion after her restorations. Bausch’sarti-fol metallic bk 328 Arti-Fol metallic Complete combines the proven Arti-Fol metallic film with a new cardboard holder for a hygienic approach, which Dr. Bingham finds more convenient than her other products.

“I love the cardboard handle because I don't have to use articulating paper holders or tweezers,” she shared. “Those instruments are just more equipment that I’d have to sterilize and make sure that it's readily available, whereas with Arti-Fol metallic Complete, the handle is already attached and that is sufficient.”

Dr. Robin Henderson believes occlusion to be one of the most crucial factors in the long-term outcomes of restorations. “In my opinion, Bausch is the leader in making occlusion visible to dentists, so I was excited to try the Arti-Fol metallic Complete,” she shared. “The handle is larger than my current forceps, but it works well. It’s convenient that the foil is ready and I don’t need to switch it in my forceps between markings.”

Arti-Fol metallic Complete can be used individually on the left side, the right side, or together for the entire dental arch, thanks to its unique design, which is Dr. Bingham’s favorite feature. “The product is an excellent idea, and I particularly like that I can put 2 pieces together and make a whole arch,” she said.

Superior Materials

Arti-Fol metallic Complete's high-tech metal foil and 2-sided color coating with micro-fi ne ground color pigments allow clinicians to achieve optimal markings. The foil also precisely marks moist occlusal surfaces and is universally applicable for all materials.

Dr. Bingham noted that the Arti-Fol metallic Complete material retains markings better than articulating paper. “Once articulating paper gets wet, you can’t get good markings,” she explained. “Bausch’s product gives better markings, which provides more information about what the patient is feeling.”

Centric and eccentric occlusions are indicated on the bite aid and can be shown consecutively with only one foil because of the two different colors.

“Where we had the most success was marking interferences and excursions,” shared Dr. Henderson. “I first mark centric occlusion with my regular articulating paper—Bausch 200-micron BK 1001—and then I use Arti-Fol metallic Complete on the red side to identify prematurities, excursions, and interferences. It has given me the ability to visualize and eliminate tricky interferences not otherwise seen.

“I’ve had much more success with the Arti-Fol metallic Complete than with some other articulating papers I’ve tried,” concluded Dr. Bingham.
