Most chairs exist for one, sole purpose, and that is comfort. After all, everyone, at some point in the day, needs a seat to rest. But in dentistry, the purpose of chairs extends to function as well. In addition to providing comfort to both patients and clinicians, they also have features that allow dental treatments to proceed smoothly from patient to patient. This symbiotic blend of comfort and function is an apt description for DENTALEZ's Forest 3900 Dental Chair, and it’s something that Tim Tishler, DDS, can speak about based on years of experience.

“I always make big purchases—such as dental chairs—after attending large dental meetings because it allows me to compare different companies and their options,” he shared. “I don’t let anyone talk me into very expensive chairs and delivery units without looking at all the options. I looked at Forest chairs first, and then I looked at some others. I just kept coming back to the Forest chairs, and eventually made my purchase. I judge chairs on looks, function, comfort, and quality, and these were high quality, looked good, and were very comfortable. Plus, they came at a price that fit into my budget.”

Ergonomic Design, Multiple Features

The streamlined, ergonomic design gives clinicians clear sight lines and better access to the oral cavity. A mid-priced chair that sports many of the same features found on higher-priced chairs, the Forest 3900 dental chair features ultraleather plush upholstery, a wide yet thin back for both elbow and full lumbar support, a hydraulic cantilever mechanism, emergency shutoff, and a multifunctional touchpad with 4 programmable preset positions to accommodate 3 additional controls. Additionally, the Forest 3900 chair includes swing-down locking armrests, a feature that saves valuable space in crowded operatories. Unlike the more common straight-back patient chairs, the chair also features a double articulating pinch-style headrest that can accommodate wheelchair bound patients, as well as patients of all heights.

“The double articulating headrest allows us to accommodate most patient’s heads for a comfortable seating position, and the extra touchpad allows my assistants to adjust the chair, freeing up my time and movements,” Dr. Tishler explained.

Expansive Color Palette, Sturdy Design

Made of ultraleather for a glove-soft leather feel that withstands heavy use and cleaning, the Forest 3900 chair is available in 17 colors for a seamless blend into any operatory décor. In addition, the Forest 3900 chair features molded plastics that are warp, impact, and stain resistant for longevity and a better fit, compared with the vacuum-formed designs commonly found with other dental chairs. The design uses steel and aluminum instead of plastic whenever possible for enhanced reliability and durability, and features an aluminum casting chair back, base, armrest, and headrest. Aluminum hydraulic manifold and speed adjustment screws offer independent speed adjustment of the base and back, for both up and down movement.

“My favorite feature is that patients are always commenting about how comfortable these chairs are and how they wish they had one of them at home!” Dr. Tishler added.

Easy Patient Access

The Forest 3900 chair has a minimum seat height of 17 inches and a maximum height of 29 inches to accommodate patients of all sizes, along with a 21-inch plastic toe guard. For ease of access as well as operatory room furniture arrangements that are often space compromised, the chair allows both right and left patient access, as well as a 30-degree swivel base rotation with lock. The patient seat includes an optional soft-touch back massage with an integrated compressor, a feature that saves central compressor capacity for delivery systems.

It's been 6 years since Dr. Tishler first brought the Forest 3900 dental chairs into his busy Sister Bay, WI, practice, and he continues to be pleased with their performance, comfort, and durability.

“After 6 years, they still look like they’re brand new,” he concluded.
