Dreaming of your next leading-edge CBCT or scanner? What about AI-enabled software that boosts patient confi dence in your diagnoses? Advancements in dental equipment and technology have propelled dentistry toward capabilities no one even dreamed about less than a decade ago. But what about all the exciting new advancements in material science? Leading the charge is Septodont’s Active BioSilicate Technology (ABS), which leverages a patented ceramic mineral chemistry to achieve the purest form of calcium silicate available.

The Science of ABS

The ABS platform is the centerpiece of BioRoot Flow, a bioactive mineral root canal sealer with a 36% concentration of tricalcium silicate—the highest in the industry. The material's high pH of up to 11.5 creates an alkaline environment that limits bacterial growth. Highly radiopaque, its resin-free formulation eliminates shrinkage, provides a hermetic seal of the root canal, and penetrates all radicular canals without the need for compaction. The bioactive formulation limits the risk of adverse reactions and triggers mineralization, providing calcium ions that form hydroxyapatite and increase the mineral density of dentin.

"We do everything we can to clean the root canal system during treatment, but there's no way to completely sterilize it," noted Lauren Kuhn Nuth, DMD, MSD. "A bioactive, antimicrobial sealer takes care of any bacteria that are left behind and continues our work once the patient leaves the chair.”

Dentin Restoration with Ease

The first all-in-one dentin substitute that fully replaces dentin, Septodont’s biocompatible and bioactive Biodentine XP also features ABS technology with a highly pure tricalcium silicate. Available in 2 volumes, Biodentine XP offers direct placement in the cavity—from the crown to the top—in a variety of indications.

“One of the reasons I like using Septodont products is because the company has full control over the manufacturing process," said Robert Salehrabi, DDS, an endodontist who has lectured on advanced microscopic endodontics for nearly 2 decades. "Their tricalcium silicate material is manufactured in-house, and as a result, the product quality is superb."
