iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging System
Launched as a restorative scanner in the early 2000s, the iTero Element family of intraoral scanners has been allowing dentists to capture fast and accurate digital scans, as well as take advantage of a streamlined restorative workflow that transmits those scans to virtually any lab in just minutes. And, thanks to the scanner’s intuitive software applications, patients can visualize their oral cavity and understand their unique dental conditions in greater detail than ever before.
One of the ways the iTero Element scanner has evolved and become truly unique in the space is through the use of Near-Infrared Imaging (NIRI) technology, which the iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system uses in tandem with 3D models and 2D intraoral images to capture data beneath the tooth surface during routine scanning. Serving as a diagnostic aid in the detection of interproximal caries above the gingiva, with iTero NIRI technology, enamel appears transparent while areas of demineralization appear bright.
Simulate Treatment Outcomes like a Pro
In addition to its restorative capabilities, iTero Element scanners also are a vehicle for Invisalign treatment. Available exclusively on the iTero Element Plus Series, the new Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro is a powerful chairside tool that helps drive Invisalign treatment acceptance. The software merges a patient’s photo with their 3D scan to provide a highly realistic in-face visualization of their future smile after Invisalign treatment. While the simulation generates in the background, doctors can use other iTero scanner digital tools— such as iTero TimeLapse, NIRI, and Occlusogram technology—to educate their patients.
“It’s nice to have during patient conversations,” said Dr. Bret Jacobsen. ”It gives patients a nice visualization so they really understand what it is they’re going to be starting.”
