Keep Your Loupes On All Day, Every Day

The latest addition to Orascoptic’s variable magnification technology, EyeZoom Max features 3.5x and 6.5x magnifications designed to handle a full day’s workflow—from routine exams to complex endo and implant treatments

Of the 5 senses, most dentists would probably name the sense of sight as the most critical to their daily workflow. That’s certainly the case for Dr. Gregori M. Kurtzman, who practices in Silver Spring, MD. Besides the obvious effect of providing optimal patient care, Dr. Kurtzman believes that “when you’re able to see something better or more clearly, I think you consume less time doing what you’re doing.”

It’s for that reason that Dr. Kurtzman recently began using Orascoptic’s EyeZoom Max. Thanks to the loupe's variable magnification technology, he uses the same pair of loupes from his first appointment to his very last of the day, every day. With just a simple turn of the dial, he can easily switch between 3.5x and 6.5x magnifications.

Choose Your Magnification

“I think it helps to have some level of magnification—no matter what you’re doing,” said Dr. Kurtzman, a general dentist who routinely performs endo and implant treatments. “The benefit of the EyeZoom Max is that not every procedure needs to be done with 6.5x power."

"Magnification makes a big difference, especially when visualizing canal orifices, root fractures, or loose abutment screws.”

For example, the 3.5x magnification offers a wide field of view and is ideal for crown and bridge preps, restorations, or removing posts, as well as for gingival grafts, biopsies, extractions, pocket reduction surgery, hygiene checks, and routine exams.

A quick turn of the dial transforms the EyeZoom Max into a high-powered 6.5x lens for more advanced dentistry, such as endo or implant procedures.

Same Loupe, Different Procedure

“Magnification makes a big difference, especially when visualizing canal orifices, root fractures, or loose abutment screws,” he said.

The 6.5x magnification is ideal for other common endo tasks, such as locating canals, the pulpal floor, or broken files. It also aids in small lesions pathology, crown margin refinement, sinus perforations, composite smoothing, guided tissue regeneration, occlusal interferences, and loose bridge abutments.

“I’m able to find the canal orifice without removing all that extra tooth structure, and I can see down the chamber inside the abutment when I do implant procedures,” he said. “Overall, these loupes allow me to see what I couldn't see before,” Dr. Kurtzman concluded.
