For Dr. Hana Rashid, the road to dentistry started in her mother's operatory. Dr. Ibtisam Rashid opened the doors to Beautiful Smiles Cosmetic & General Dentistry in 1998, hoping the Roseville, CA, dental practice would be a place where patients could feel relaxed and cared for. And while Dr. Hana hadn't originally planned to pursue dentistry, watching patients walk into her mother’s office in pain and walk out the door with smiles on their faces ultimately sealed the deal.
A Mother-Daughter Practice
“My mother asked me to help her out one summer during high school,” Dr. Hana explained. “I gradually learned the business side of dentistry while appreciating how much of an impact we have in our communities, and how we can improve the public's perception of dentistry."
After completing several medical and dental externships at local practices while in college, she decided to take the plunge and pursue dentistry. "I liked the ability to use my artistic side," she said.
After graduating from dental school in 2009 and completing a 1-year GPR, Dr. Hana joined her mother's practice. Today, she enjoys treating and catching up with patients she grew up with, and now, she’s even seeing their children.
“It’s such a wonderful feeling when I can see a family go through all life’s experiences and be able to grow with them,” she said.
