Orascoptic’s pioneering TruColor technology introduces the first high-color rendering index (CRI) loupe-mounted LED headlight

TruColor by Orascoptic If there’s one piece of equipment in the operatory that you shouldn’t overlook, it’s the vision-enhancing tool that illuminates the oral cavity. Dental headlights have surged in popularity as the obvious answer to clinicians’ attempts to improve visibility during procedures, as well as decrease eye strain and shadows in the operating field. Although early headlights were often large, clunky, and provided little in the way of portability, advances in technology have paved the way for LED headlights that are both lightweight and ergonomic while providing bright, white-light illumination.

TruColor Is a First & Only

Orascoptic has been designing and manufacturing headlight and loupe systems for dentists, surgeons, and hygienists for over 35 years, regularly churning out first-to-market, innovative products and loupes with optical clarity that breaks the status quo. Take, for example, the creation and release of EyeZoom—the first and only 3-in-1 adjustable magnification loupe. There’s also XV1—the first and only integrated loupe and headlight in one, offering clinicians the freedom of wireless illumination.

This summer marks another first for Orascoptic with the release of its breakthrough TruColor technology, which enables headlights to render colors much closer to natural sunlight than legacy headlights. That means users will see more natural and accurate reds, yellows, and whites—making it easier to identify tissue colors and match shades.

A Colorful Leap Forward

This powerful stride forward in loupe illumination technology centers around the Color Rendering Index (CRI) value that TruColor contains. CRI is an industry standard measurement of color accuracy in headlights. While all other loupe-mounted LED headlights exhibit CRI values in the low 70s at best, the research and development teams at Orascoptic worked relentlessly to build on its optical design and unlock a CRI value greater than 90 across its full range of headlights.

TruColor headlights deliver this breakthrough spectrum of color without compromising light output, spot uniformity, or battery run time. Like all Orascoptic headlights, TruColor headlight systems offer clinicians a highly uniform spot with the least amount of weight compared to other solutions on the market, and are tested to ensure compliance with blue light testing standards.

Regardless of your field, specialty, or area of practice, you can be certain that Orascoptic will continue to deliver optical innovations that allow for superior visualization and enhance the day-to-day lives of clinicians, making the decision to invest in your most important instrument—your eyes—an easy one.
