The results are in: DPS readers have once again said they're sticking with the PANAVIA family of dental cements to meet all their cementation needs
Placing Multiple Veneers? No Problem
The newest member of the cement family is PANAVIA Veneer LC, which offers 3 key features dentists need in a veneer cement—easy cleanup, high bond strength, and color stability.
“Veneers are highly fragile. They don't bond with much retention due to their prep design, so you need a cement that can bond the tooth to the veneer—no matter what material you're using,” Dr. Sarubin said. “PANAVIA Veneer LC cement allows you to etch, prime, bond, seal, and protect the tooth with the utmost strength and stability.”
The light-curing PANAVIA Veneer LC offers excellent color stability, high wear resistance, ample working time, and fast and easy cleanup. Indicated for veneers, as well as inlays and onlays less than 2-mm thick, it uses newly developed spherical silica fillers that provide stability while allowing for ideal fl ow when the veneer is seated on the tooth.
“PANAVIA Veneer LC’s handling characteristics simplify bonding veneers in a manner that is predictable as well as reliable,” said Mike Glasmeier, DMD, who completes about 8 to 10 veneer cases every month. “I use some of the CLEARFIL bonding agents, too, as they have reliably good bond strength when placing direct composites and help prevent postop sensitivity.”
With some veneer cements, if you’re not extremely careful with removal, there’s a risk of pulling the cement from underneath the margin and creating a gap. Thanks to PANAVIA Veneer LC’s spherical fillers, this is an unlikely scenario.
“Its easy cleanup allows us to place multiple veneers very efficiently, as well as avoid any excess cleanup that could damage the veneer or gingival tissues,” Dr. Glasmeier added.
“I think the cement gets a very high rating for bonding porcelain veneers,” agreed Dr. Ken Bendik. “It flows well, and I use it for porcelain repairs as well.”
What’s in a Name?
The name PANAVIA comes from a blend of Greek and Latin: “pan” meaning “everything” and “via” meaning “way” or “method.” Put together, it illustrates a method for bonding just about anything.
"I've used PANAVIA cements for the last 20-plus years," said Dr. Charles Kattuah, who often uses the cements in tandem with CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2. "They are some of the best resin cements I've used since finishing dental school. I like them because they have given me proven, time-tested results and are easy to use."
