Single-Use Aerosol Evacuator

Disposable device protects patients and staff from harmful aerosols, providing user friendliness for the clinician and comfort for the patient

The Henry Schein Brand Single-Use Aerosol Evacuator was developed to help dental teams grappling with traditional methods of high-volume aerosol evacuation. Exclusively available from Henry Schein, the handsfree device attaches to any standard HVE connection to provide significant aerosol reduction. Amber MetroSanchez, RDH, BA, shares how this product has brought greater confidence to her dental practice.

Since COVID-19 came into the picture, aerosol reduction has been at the forefront of my dailysingle use evacuator practice of dental hygiene. However, I found it quite cumbersome to attempt to use the traditional method of high-volume evacuation during aerosolgenerating procedures and was searching for a product that could make this task easier to accomplish.

The Henry Schein Brand Single-Use Aerosol Evacuator exceeded my every expectation. To be honest, I was initially skeptical when I was asked to try out this aerosol evacuator, because I had been frustrated with using high-volume evacuation in the past. I've had issues with sucking up the patient’s tissue inadvertently because it is diffi cult to keep the tip in place. I've also experienced shoulder pain from holding the tip up in awkward positions while trying to use an ultrasonic scaler. The Single-Use Aerosol Evacuator successfully eliminated all of these concerns.

My patients commented that this product was comfortable and that it did not pull on their lips. It slid a safer way to practice into their mouths easily and stayed in place during the entire appointment. I also tested the product myself, because I have a small mouth and wanted to see if the evacuator would be uncomfortable. I was surprised to discover that it felt natural, and when I added in the suction, I felt my mouth become drier immediately. At that point, I knew this evacuator would be highly effective for aerosol control. When I use the device on a patient, I can see the aerosol cloud going directly down into the suction tube, and I’m confident that I’m providing the best-quality care in a safe environment.

I applaud Henry Schein for creating a product that meets the ergonomic needs of hygienists, allowing them to control aerosols while maintaining their focus on the gingival health of their patients.
