Mommy Dentists in Business Podcast

Dr. Grace Yum, a high-profile pediatric dentist in Chicago, IL, started the Mommy Dentists in Business podcast with a goal of supporting "mombosses" on their journeys as entrepreneurs and mothers. Each episode she interviews a new female expert—from fashion stylists to CEOs to parenting experts—who shares invaluable tips and life hacks. In this month’s highlighted episode, Dr. Yum interviews the CEO and founder of Mapp Your Practice, a company specializing in dental insurance solutions. Here’s what DPS evaluator Teresa DeStefano, DMD, had to say about the episode:

Clinician’s Take:

Dr. Mapp In this episode, Dr. Mapp shared the forks in the road that she encountered as both an associate and a practice owner, and I liked hearing how she persevered through difficult periods in her life. What I really enjoyed was hearing her discuss how she helps practices assess their relationship with dental insurance companies. Dr. Mapp noted how it is becoming increasingly difficult to run a completely fee-for-service practice—and I agree. While my practice does not rely heavily on insurance, many of my patients do, and they would walk out the door if I were to drop their insurers. I also agreed with Dr. Mapp that practice owners should look at their financial records at least once a month to see what they’re getting paid by insurance.
