FLOWABLE, LIGHT-CURING MATERIAL FOR TEMPORARY RESTORATIONS

To me, Clip Flow is a lot like duct tape. It’s versatile, efficient, effective, and it gets the job done. As a light-cured temporary filling material, Clip Flow is highly flowable and can easily adapt to cavity walls and implant screws. It is also durable, nonadhesive, and has universal indications. It provides a consistent fit for inlays and onlays without the need for bur trimming, which can damage preparation areas.

I have been using Clip Flow with my patients for about 3 months, and find that compared to other filling materials, it is a versatile choice for effectively managing and treating common challenges in both implant and crown-and-bridge dentistry. In addition, the material can be used for gingival protection as a relining and blockout material to repair resin matrices during filling placement, or as a temporary filling for cavities.

Out of this broad array of indications, my favorite use of Clip Flow is to seal implant screw openings—provided the crown is cementretained, rather than screw-retained. In the past, I have used PVS and Teflon tape to seal the openings, but Clip Flow is by far the easiest and most effective material choice for sealing implant abutment screw vents. It’s extremely easy to remove in one piece without causing damage to surrounding preparation margins.

Any dental practice that performs consistent implant dentistry, as well as indirect dentistry prescribing more inlays and onlays, can benefit from using Clip Flow as an adjunct material. One of the challenges of doing an onlay is making a reliable temporary that will last for 2 weeks. Clip Flow offers a “place, shape, cure, reveal, and 2-weeks-later peel” approach to temporization. This method is both a reliable and effective pathway to a provisional for these types of cases.

Clip Flow comes in ready-to-use single applications so there’s no mixing involved, making it simple to use. The material is very flowable and dispenses easily from the syringe, thanks to new resin matrix technology. VOCO’s patented Non-Drip Technology syringe makes applying it even more convenient.

The material can hold up against saliva, doesn’t create a big mess, and is less likely to cause my patients sensitivity. It’s also been a great timesaver because it is translucent and can be lightcured to a depth of 11 mm. Less chair time equals a happier patient.

Anytime a product comes along that makes my job easier, as this one does, the outcome is going to be a good one.
