If you don’t have a quality impression material that is moisture tolerant or a material that has adequate tear strength and flowability, then no matter how great the clinical technique used before taking the impression, the material will let you down. As a clinician, I do not want to have to worry about an inferior impression material when I have spent so much time and effort preparing the tooth. VOCO has gotten it right with V-Posil. They have paid attention to details like wettability, tear strength, flowability, and working time—four of the most clinically important qualities in an impression material.
Predictability
In any practice, if a final restoration does not fit right, either the clinician cements the restoration anyway or sends it back to have it redone. In the former, the practice will ultimately pay the simple price of redoing the crown earlier than necessary or the unfortunate cost of being known for poorquality restorations. In the latter scenario, a new impression is taken and the patient needs to be rescheduled. There is a real cost to the practice and the patient in this scenario. On the other hand, by using predictable techniques and a quality, precise impression material like V-Posil, the practice and the dentist can expect:
1. A decrease in ill-fitting restorations
2. An increase in patient satisfaction
3. A reputation for making a difficult procedure easy for the patient with long-lasting, predictable results
The Cool Factor
Some of the coolest things I immediately noticed when I started to use V-Posil were the ease of reading the final impression, even on deep subgingival margins, and the ease of getting it right the first time. My assistant even stopped complaining about how hard it was to fill the trays with heavy body. I have used one of the highestrated and most expensive impression materials on the market, and V-Posil worked just as well, was easier to read, and was less expensive.
Making the Switch
If a practice is using an impression material and getting mediocre results, they should look at their impression technique first and then switch to V-Posil impression material to see what it is that they’re missing—a great-quality impression material without the price tag.
