Prioritizing Patient Comfort

Keystone is home to effective chairside products that make it easy to keep patients comfortable

Patient comfort is a top priority for every dentist, including Dr. Fred Winter, who took part in the DPS product review of Supergel and Tray Aways—a reliable duo that works together to produce predictable and detailed final impressions. “Faster-setting impression materials and little or no patient discomfort during the setting process are very important to me,” he shared.

A Delightful Duo

Disposable impression trays, Tray Aways are ideal for use with alginate or VPS impression materials in cases where detailed reproduction and dimensionally stable results are vital. Made from rigid, high-impact styrene, they create consistent impressions free of distortion or bite-through, while smooth, rounded edges, interior retention slots, and vertical perforation enhance material retention. “The trays fit comfortably in patients' mouths and don't dig into the soft tissue," added Dr. Winter.

Tray Aways pair well with Supergel, a premium blended alginate material that mixes to a smooth, creamy consistency. Compared to his previous alginate material, Dr. Winter said Supergel set up faster, minimized patient discomfort, and retained the accuracy of the impression. Patient acceptance is boosted by Supergel's pleasing sassafras flavor, controlled flow, and heavy body, which reduce patients' gag reflex.

Comfortable Chairside Relinesbosworth dentusil

Deemed a DPS Best Product last year, DentuSil answers the call of dentists looking to help denture patients who need their temporary soft liners replaced during the healing process. A chairside soft silicone relining material, DentuSil can last in the patient’s mouth for up to a year. It combines the ease of cartridge dispensing with the flexibility and resilience of a silicone soft reline material— allowing dentists to offer their immediate denture patients a comfortable, reliable reline in a single office visit.

“The patient was very comfortable, and I don’t have to replace it as often as my usual temporary soft liner until the final reline in 6 months,” noted prosthodontist Dr. Robert Mokbel. He also called it “good for most patients with lower dentures, especially those with advanced bone loss and for elderly patients who can’t afford dental implants."

DentuSil is less prone to stains and the adhesive is designed to hold material in place, providing a secure reline in just minutes with a translucent pink color for a natural, healthy look. "DentuSil is simple to use and easy to apply with very clear instructions," Dr. Mokbel added.
