Sectional matrix system features 6 components that deliver accurate contacts and consistent results during Class II procedures
Accurate contact. Tight seal. Increased retention. Six components designed for optimal performance individually and as a team... We’re talking about the Palodent Plus sectional matrix system from Dentsply Sirona Restorative. It dates back to 1986 when dentist and university instructor Dr. Alvin Meyer introduced BiTine technology—interproximal separation with a matrix band set firmly in place. A lot has changed in 3 decades, including the challenges clinicians face when they approach Class II restorations.
The Palodent Plus of today takes BiTine technology to a whole new level, featuring contoured matrices, wedges, forceps, pin tweezers, rings, and wedgeguards that work in tandem to deliver tight, accurate contacts. During the DPS evaluation of Palodent Plus, nearly all the dentists who tried the system in their offices said they would recommend it to their colleagues.
“I liked the completeness of the system; it adds more to the convenience,” said Dr. Eyad Haidar, an evaluator from Weston, MA. “You can predictably achieve tight contacts.”
Systematic Efficiency
Dr. Eric W. Van Zytveld started using the Palodent Plus system 4 years ago to achieve isolation and tight contacts when using resin-based restoratives. When performing a Class II cavity preparation, he starts by placing a wedge guard interproximally and a universal ring to help separate the patient’s teeth. After prep, Dr. Van Zytveld removes the ring and wedgeguard and secures a sectional matrix band with a passive wedge.
“The Palodent Plus Ni-Ti ring provides tight retention to obtain separation and tight contacts, and enables shaping of proximal contours in posterior Class II restorations,” he said.
Patient comfort and conservative dentistry are important factors in today’s practice, and the Palodent Plus sectional matrix system can offer the clinician peace of mind on both fronts.
