For dentists, time means money. A 1-minute time savings per restoration or a $1 decrease in the cost of a product will add up to tremendous savings for a small business. Thus, finding a tool or material that costs less, saves time, and still meets all expectations is extremely valuable to the overall profitability of that business.

Staining and glazing all-ceramic units can be a laborious task. Many ceramic glazes have to be fired multiple times for the unit to glaze out with optimal results. But if a glaze requires just one firing, sprays consistently without puddling, and dries quickly, imagine the time that can be saved in labor alone. Keystone Industries designed its Enamelite Low-Fusing Fluorescent Ceramic Spray Glaze to meet all these requirements while guaranteeing shade-matching under natural and artificial light for zirconia, lithium-disilicate, and lithiumsilicate restorations.
A general and cosmetic dentist in Dana Point, CA, Jeffrey R. Briney, DDS, told DPS how Enamelite improved the efficiency of his CEREC CAD/CAM practice. While looking for a lower-cost spray glaze for e.max crowns that would perform the same as his current spray glaze, Dr. Briney decided to try Enamelite. He and his assistant, who is the primary stainer and glazer of restorations in the office, realized the benefits of Enamelite immediately.

Dr. Briney first noticed that the Enamelite glaze did not puddle at the margins of the restorations and it dried much faster than brush-on applications. Also, there was no need to polish off residual glaze at the margin. Another improvement was the consistency in the spray, no matter what material was used. Enamelite is compatible with all dental ceramics, and although he only uses 2 CAD/CAM block materials, Dr. Briney was surprised by the consistency of the results. He also noticed the uniform accuracy of the multiple coats, and said there was no bubbling.

As a business owner, Dr. Briney said Enamelite’s greatest benefit is the reduction in cost. Not only does the product cost less, but using it resulted in a significant reduction of labor time. Between himself and his assistant, Dr. Briney estimates they saved an average of 1 minute in working time per restoration.

In addition to saving time on the placement of the glaze, they spent less time polishing the restoration and the margins from possible puddling. “My assistant and I noticed a significant advantage to using Enamelite over our previous techniques and materials,” Dr. Briney said. “I speak and teach for many dental companies, and get to share opinions and ideas with thousands of other CAD/CAM doctors and staff, and I would highly recommend this product in our discussions.”
