Accuracy, stability, and retention come together to provide great impressions

Impression taking presents many challenges—among them uncaptured teeth, gum tissue, and bone; runs and pulls at the gumline; and air bubbles. While some of these inaccuracies can be attributed to human error—such as patients not biting down hard enough, clinicians using the wrong-sized impression tray, or dental staff removing the tray improperly—it helps to start with a product known for making the job easy.

Keystone Tray Aways are single-use, disposable impression trays that can be used with alginate or other types of impression materials. Made from rigid, high-impact, FDA-approved styrene, they offer a consistent impression that is free of distortion or bite through. Interior retention slots and vertical perforations boost holding power and help produce dimensionally stable results.

“I began selling Tray Aways around 1986, but they have been available since long before then,” said Wayne Allen, Director of Sales Special Markets at Keystone Industries. “Tray Aways provide rigidity and accuracy not found in many foreign-made disposable trays, and they approach stainless steel metal trays in quality results.”

Tray Aways have smooth, rounded edges for enhanced patient comfort, and come in a variety of width, height, and depth variations for optimal fit. The bur trimmable material is nontoxic, so there is no concern about patients reacting adversely. Impression material won’t overflow, and an ergonomic, built-in handle makes removing the tray from a patient’s mouth simple.

Implant Ready
For patients who require implant treatment, Edentulous Tray Aways are single-use, perforated impression trays that can be easily drilled for implant impressions. Offered in small, medium, and large sizes, the trays are designed to be patient-friendly and allow for a perfect fit in one visit—without the use of an adhesive.

“Tray Aways are anatomically correct and fit almost every patient comfortably,” said Allen. He added that the U.S.-manufactured trays are uniform from tray to tray, and year to year. “No surprises and always consistent results ultimately save time, money, and provide unexcelled accuracy and extreme patient comfort during the impression-taking process,” he concluded.
