ProLUX Headlight System
With long battery life, lightweight designs, and edge-to-edge brightness that can be turned on/off with a tap or a wave, LumaDent headlight systems are clear winners for DPS readers
In theatre, a spotlight is an integral piece of equipment for shining a bright beam onto the stage and directing our attention to key players in the performance. Similarly, a bright dental headlight illuminates the oral cavity, helping practitioners better visualize treatment areas. Whether in the theatre or the operatory, lighting is essential to providing an optimal "performance," which makes it important to choose a system that's both powerful and easy to use.
This year, DPS readers shine a radiant spotlight on an innovative trio of headlight systems by LumaDent, a leading manufacturer of magnification and illumination solutions for nearly 15 years. Taking center stage are its ProLUX, airLUX, and waveLUX headlight designs, which offer ideal brightness and universal compatibility with all dental loupes.
ProLUX: Shine Like a Pro
With adjustable brightness up to 60,000 LUX, the powerhouse ProLUX headlight provides users with a clean, circular beam of light from edge to edge that illuminates the working field. The size of the beam depends on a clinician's preferred working distance, while light intensity settings can be conveniently controlled via a switch on the cable or a red button on the battery. The battery is housed in an anodized aluminum casing and runs up to 40 hours on a single charge. A battery level indicator allows ProLUX users to gauge the amount of remaining working time.
The modular ProLUX headlight pairs well with LumaDent’s ErgoPrism loupes, which allow clinicians to work in a neutral and relaxed posture for reduced back, neck, and shoulder pain—but it also can be easily mounted to any brand of loupes, glasses, or face shields.
airLUX: Lightweight and Wireless
Shining 21,000 LUX for about 3.5 hours on a single charge, airLUX is a totally wireless headlight system comprised of 2 lithium-polymer airLUX batteries and LumaDent's HL360 LED headlight for even, shadow-free lighting of the oral cavity. Best of all, clinicians do not need to replace their existing wired system—simply upgrade by plugging the headlight into the airLUX battery. Easy to use, it can be turned on/off by tapping the corner of the battery pack.
waveLUX: Brightness with a Wave
The newest LumaDent headlight, waveLUX incorporates a touch-free wave sensor for effortless operation and enhanced infection control. Its semi-wireless design also avoids tangled and snagged wires that can inhibit mobility.
Packaged with 2 waveLUX batteries that run up to 12 hours per charge and afford clinicians hours of uninterrupted use, waveLUX can be turned on and off with a simple wave.
Typically mounted on the shoulder, it offers up to 50,000 LUX that can be adjusted via a control knob on the battery. waveLUX batteries charge in just 2.5 hours and are available in 5 unique finishes—carbon fiber, rose gold, purple, blue, and space gray.
