Planmeca ProMax 3D Mid

Planmeca CBCT system captures clear and accurate 3D images that serve as a roadmap toward successful implant treatment planning and surgery

Planmeca ProMax 3D Imaging System A clinician’s journey through implant treatment requires many tools, but one of the most important is the image that serves as a roadmap toward successful implant therapy. A high-quality 3D image is the visual launching pad that allows the clinician to assess bone height and width, visualize adjacent anatomy, and confirm the location of vital structures prior to surgery.

The Planmeca ProMax 3D Mid is an all-in-one unit that combines 3D imaging, 3D photo, digital 2D panoramics, and cephalometry. The image clarity and resolution it provides create an accurate depiction of the overall implant area for simplified treatment planning. Dr. Zachary Evans, who teaches digital implant dentistry at the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Dental Medicine, uses the ProMax 3D Mid in conjunction with other Planmeca digital technology to offer predictable implant care.

“In just 5 or 10 years, the implant planning process has evolved significantly,” he shared. “Using Planmeca tools, I can now plan an implant case and have a surgical guide to the printer in around 15 minutes.” This includes overlaying the ProMax 3D image with a digital scan in the powerful Planmeca Romexis software, and then digitally waxing up the tooth.

“This gives me a perfect representation of what the ideal eventual restoration will look like, while factoring in the occlusal forces, emergence profile, and gingival margin—areas that are critical to think about when planning where an ideal implant position will be,” Dr. Evans said.

When it comes to radiation exposure, Planmeca’s Ultra Low Dose imaging protocol captures clear diagnostic images in 3D—from the smallest to the largest FOVs—while limiting radiographic exposure down to the equivalent of capturing traditional 2D x-rays.
