R.T.R. Syringe

r.t.r/ syringe from septodont The process of regenerating deficient bone sites should involve one step: Simply inject the bone-grafting material into the extraction site and let it work its magic. The problem with some synthetic grafts, however, is that the grafts tend to stay as particles longer than allografts. Septodont’s R.T.R. Syringe, which distributes absorbable bone regeneration and membrane granules, addressed this issue for me. I can use the original bone to remodel in approximately the same amount of time it would take with allografts. This is particularly helpful with bone-implant contact and osseointegration.

Dispensed in a curved, sterile syringe for easy handling and placement, R.T.R. Syringe remodels without leaving graft residue behind. The syringe holds a sufficient amount of the material, and I’ve found it works best during socket preservation, immediate implant placement, grafting, and ridge augmentation.

Relieving Patients’ Pain

In the patient case shown, I performed an extraction and placed an immediate implant. I then applied the R.T.R. granules, made of beta-tricalcium phosphate bone-grafting material. Upon applying the material, calcium and phosphate ions were released to help promote new bone formation, while the osteoconductive micro- and macroporous structure immediately began to foster new bone growth. Next, I positioned a graft to further stabilize the implant and sutured the area shut.

The patient was able to return to work that day. She did not have pain, and the area healed rapidly and without inflammation. In addition to its success in renewing bone integrity within 3 to 6 months, the R.T.R. Syringe has better remodeling capabilities, providing an ideal, standardized flow that makes it easy to handle.
