Technology allows the freedom to share information and ideas like never before. Better access to information empowers practices to truly focus on the patient and on running their business. Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but sometimes it doesn’t. Current practice management (PM) software, for example, includes countless modules and additions that can make the original flow dif? cult to navigate. PM software should fit the practice—not the other way around.

With this is mind, Patterson set out to build Fuse, its latest cloud-based software offering. The cloud was a natural platform to bring patients, practices, and businesses together as well as to extend and integrate practice management into other innovative and emerging technologies.

“We wanted to craft a platform that intentionally allows businesses to leverage efficiencies and innovation without having to change their PM system every time something new comes over the horizon,” said Alan Johnson, Director of Fuse Business Development.

Patterson leaned on insights from hundreds of industry professionals to develop streamlined workflows. It also built Fuse to resemble leading social media tools so it’s both fresh and familiar at the same time.

“We interact with friendly technology every day. Why should a practice management system be any different?” asked Johnson. “The Clinical Timeline not only consolidates all patient clinical information into one place, it does it in a way that’s as familiar as scrolling your smartphone or your Facebook timeline.”

Because Fuse is device agnostic, clinicians can take it with them wherever they go with their mobile devices. It’s built for maximum compatibility across a wide range of devices and operating systems.

“Fuse was built for the dental space, but it’s really an enterprise business tool that happens to specialize in dentistry,” said Johnson.

Fuse delivers training and support to maximize the software’s impact on the business—in person, remote, or by using WalkMe, a self-guided journey through the software. As a step-by-step interactive experience, WalkMe allows the new user to learn key functionality while actually completing tasks.

”Consistency at scale is so critical when it comes to growing a business, and that starts with people. WalkMe enables a repeatable experience across the entire enterprise,” said Johnson. “It’s an extremely empowering aspect of Fuse that’s included in the core application, not as an add-on.”

Fuse is the starting point for an ecosystem of information and functionality. Continued growth in access to data, business intelligence, and expanding integration partners are also driving development based on user feedback.

“Fuse is definitely still growing, but it’s growing based on feedback from our users and where we see the industry going,” Johnson added.
