SureSmile: Improving the Patient Experience
New solutions introduced to improve patient satisfaction while maintaining and brightening new smiles during the clear aligner journey
With an ongoing commitment to offer a predictable, streamlined, and comprehensive treatment approach, Dentsply Sirona has introduced a trio of new components for its SureSmile Clear Aligner system. For use during treatment, the SureSmile VPro is a high-frequency vibration device that patients can use at home to help accelerate1 tooth movement. Following treatment, the SureSmile Retainer helps prevent relapse, while the SureSmile Whitening Kit enables brighter smiles.
A Clear Path to Success
The new solutions add to a treatment experience that dentists such as Craig Ratner, DMD, and Alex Pisapia, DDS, have enjoyed providing in their Staten Island, NY, practice. Having switched from another aligner brand to SureSmile in 2019, they found a streamlined workflow and the ability to scan full arches with speed and accuracy using a Primescan intraoral scanner. Improvements made over time have made for a user-friendly experience today.
“SureSmile’s case workups have been very good, with little need for changes,” Dr. Pisapia said. "They follow the prescriptions very well and turnaround is very quick." Dr. Ratner said the aligner has a better fi t and feels more durable than those he used previously. During aligner treatment, the SureSmile VPro can be used by the patient for just 5 minutes a day at home, delivering gentle vibrations that not only may accelerate tooth movement, but may also improve aligner seating and tracking, and reduce discomfort.1 The device is included in the SureSmile Complete Case or can be ordered as a standalone product.
After treatment, the SureSmile Retainer can help maintain teeth alignment. When worn as prescribed, the retainer is an effective tool to help prevent relapse. Dr. Ratner, whose office has begun prescribing the retainer to patients, noted that he has not seen any posttreatment relapse with SureSmile aligners to date.
Designed to brighten smiles after treatment, the SureSmile Whitening Kit diminishes stains and discoloration over the course of 4 at-home whitening treatments using 9% hydrogen peroxide gel and a reusable tray. “So far, patients have been appreciative of the included whitening kit,” Dr. Ratner said.
Overall, Drs. Ratner and Pisapia have been pleased with the clear aligner system. “SureSmile aligners are of high quality, offer a lot of customizable options, and provide good treatment outcomes,” Dr. Ratner said.
