Simplifying practice operations and enhancing diagnostics through cutting-edge technologies were the key themes last week at DentiMax’s annual Dental Tech Summit in Chandler, AZ. The event highlighted the latest advances in imaging and software solutions, with lively discussions on a wide range of dental technology topics.

“We’re trying to streamline everything for the practice,” Alicia Dieujuste, Managing Director of DentiMax Software, told the gathering of dental professionals and industry experts who traveled from as far as both U.S. coasts. Dieujuste and Micah Huish, VP of Support for DentiMax Imaging, led respective sessions exploring the company's ongoing innovations in software and imaging.

New Sensor Delivers Precision & Comfort

Launched in October, the DentiMax Pro Sensor is designed to deliver exceptional image quality, patient comfort, and durability. Huish highlighted the sensor’s excellent contrast and reproducibility, explaining that it produces consistently sharp, detailed x-rays that support accurate diagnoses—even at low exposure levels.

“The image quality of this sensor is amazing,” Huish said. “We’ve received a lot of really positive feedback from the practices that have installed it.”

Comfort is another priority. The sensor’s clipped-corner design eliminates pressure points and prevents sharp edges from contacting sensitive areas of the mouth.

“The new DentiMax Pro is hands down the most comfortable sensor we've ever used,” said Dr. Kent Stapely, a summit attendee.

Durability is built in as well: a Kevlar-reinforced cable protects against bites and bends, while the high-performance polyetherimide thermoplastic housing guards against fractures or delamination if accidentally dropped or compressed. Available in sizes 2, 1.5, and 1—with the 1.5 model featuring a 45-degree cord exit ideal for vertical bitewings—the Pro Sensor integrates seamlessly with most major dental imaging software, capturing and displaying images without disrupting existing workflows.

Bottom line: The Pro Sensor delivers sharper diagnostics, patient comfort, and seamless integration. “It has a very high resolution, a very high-quality image,” Huish said. “We’re really excited about it.”

Streamlined Practice Management in the Cloud

At last year’s summit, the company unveiled its cloud-based practice management software, DentiMax Flow, which gives dental professionals access to appointments, patient records, billing, reports, and more from any device with an internet connection. This year, the software’s many new features were spotlighted, with Dieujuste emphasizing the goals of accessibility, scalability, ease of use, and affordability.

“Dental offices are getting squeezed by all the technology they need to run their practices,” she said. “If you own a practice, I’d guess you’re paying for at least 20 monthly subscriptions—that’s a lot. Our goal has been not only to make our software affordable, but also to wrap as much technology into the platform as we can so that you don’t need all these separate tools.”

DentiMax Flow now includes online scheduling, 2-way texting, online patient registration, customizable forms, and intra-office messaging, plus built-in email, KPI tracking, digital referrals, and digital signature capabilities—eliminating the need for multiple third-party tools. Other additions include secure PHI sharing through DrFirst, AI-assisted x-ray diagnosis via Pearl, and integrations with Mango Voice and Gusto for VoIP and payroll management. Voice-activated charting is now in beta, allowing dental professionals to record perio charting verbally, while the upcoming “Ask Anything AI” assistant helps generate reports and insights simply by typing a question.

“With every part of our platform, we’re integrating things that would otherwise be separate and feel painful to do, and just simplifying them,” Dieujuste emphasized. “These are all just touchpoints to make your lives easier.”

The Dental Tech Summit also featured presentations on state-of-the-art 3D cone-beam units and the latest developments in imaging software, as well as lively discussions on everything from dental practice transitions to marketing strategies, to payment processing and posting.
