The Magic Touch of Diamonds

The Magic Touch line of diamond burs makes difficult restorative adjustments easy, quick, and esthetic, without the risk of micro fracturing or chipping—almost like magic

Do you believe in magic? Dentists do not typically wave a magic wand or declare ‘abracadabra’ to make perfect teeth appear out ofmagic touch nowhere, but they often work their dental magic to transform a patient’s smile. And sometimes— especially when performing notoriously difficult tasks like adjusting porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, and lithium disilicate restorations—dentists might require a magic touch to guide them through a procedure. The line of Magic Touch diamond burs from Strauss Diamond Instruments is designed to make those difficult adjustments easy, quick, and esthetic, without the risk of micro fracturing or chipping.

Minimal Time, Maximum Results

Dentists often find that working with porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, and lithium disilicate restorations can be a time-consuming, tedious, and frustrating process, especially when encountering an unexpected delay or fracture. To alleviate that frustration and achieve excellent restorative results on the first try, Arye Shahar, the President of Strauss Diamond Instruments, decided to take matters into his own hands and designed the Magic Touch diamond burs “with a patented grit which allows for fast bite adjustment, similar to that delivered by a coarse grit, but without the risk of micro fracturing or chipping.”

Available in several shapes (football, egg, pointed football, X-mas tree, round, flame, needle, pointed cylinder, inverted cone, flat end cylinder, round end taper, and flat end taper), the Magic Touch line quickly adjusts surfaces while leaving a very fine finish without scratches, producing fast, esthetic results on all types of PFM, ceramic, zirconia, and lithium disilicate crowns and bridges, including CEREC crowns, according to Shahar.

Efficient with Zirconia and Lithium Disilicatefull speed ahead

Because removing zirconia and lithium disilicate crowns and bridges can be a daunting task, Strauss offers 3 Magic Touch burs designed specifically for these difficult situations—the 856-018PF, 856-025PF and 878K-021PF. While prepping for a 6-unit anterior cosmetic case, Dr. Danny Qualliotine needed to remove 2 old ceramic crowns and was thrilled that the new Magic Touch diamond burs from Strauss had arrived in his practice that very day. He told DPS, “I found the new diamond burs for zirconia-based ceramic crown removal. Within seconds, I had sectioned the crown and off it came! These new burs are truly amazing.”

Another procedure that can be unnerving for a dentist is performing a root canal through a zirconia restoration. According to Shahar, “Strauss has solved this problem with a unique line of Endo Access burs, the 801-018PF, 801-022PF or 807-012PF, and 807-016PF which should be used for this procedure. These burs tunnel through the porcelain layer in seconds and penetrate the zirconia or lithium disilicate based crown or bridge with efficiency previously thought impossible.”

With a variety of burs and kits suitable for removing and adjusting zirconia, ceramic, porcelain, and lithium disilicate, the Magic Touch line from Strauss is a welcome addition to any dentist’s bag of tricks.
