Easy Application, Exceptional Results

Though Nick Feola, DDS, wasn’t familiar with Kuraray Noritake Dental products, CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 became a fast favorite after working with it during a Dental Product Shopper review of the material earlier this year. When DPS followed up with him recently, he shared that most of all, he enjoys the adhesive’s consistency.

“It wets the surfaces very easily, doesn’t pool up when air drying, and leads to a nice, thin bond layer that presents well on radiographs,” he explained.

During the review period, Dr. Feola shared that he used CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 to bond composite to a tooth and partially broken veneer, remarking, “It’s holding up very well, and the patient is pleased with the esthetics. So far, I’ve had no complaints of postop sensitivity.”

Having since used CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 for core buildups, as well as traditional restorations in his Dunbar, WV, general dental practice, he’s pleased to report that it continues to live up to his expectations and leave patients satisfied.

“I’ve had good results with little-to-no postop sensitivity,” he shared, once again attributing the latter benefit to the bonding agent’s lower film thickness, which he says can “more easily infiltrate and seal the dentinal tubules.” The material's strong adhesive layer and higher mechanical strength help seal and protect dentin.

Dr. Feola and his fellow DPS evaluators gave CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 high marks across the board, but it was the elimination of waiting time that stood out most to evaluating clinicians. Dr. Michelle Na shared that, unlike other bonding agents that require you to scrub for 10 to 20 seconds, CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 made the entire bonding process “fast and simple.”

Echoing this, Tom Rowe, DDS, explained, “Being able to achieve a strong bond while not needing to scrub the bonding agent for 20 seconds saves critical time in hard-to-isolate cases, or with high-anxiety dental patients where time is of the essence.”

Dr. Feola signed off with this sentiment: “Anything that saves me time is always a plus. The less time I’m waiting on a material, the more I can dedicate to direct patient care.”
