A 2-in-1 block for both hybrid abutments and hybrid abutment crowns, CEREC Cercon 4D Multidimensional Zirconia offers 3-dimensional shading, and when paired with Calibra Abutment Resin Cement, strength and esthetics
Brett Titensor, DDS, a general dentist who owns a tech-forward practice in Flower Mound, TX, has plenty to say about Dentsply Sirona’s newest restorative duo—the CEREC Cercon 4D Abutment Block and Calibra Abutment Resin Cement—calling the team of recently launched products a perfect match.
“Anytime we’re working with implants and a titanium base, we have to always block out that darker color of the base, so it’s critical that we use an opaque cement that can do that effectively," he shared. "For me, that’s the reason why these 2 new products work so well together.”
Beauty & Strength
The world’s first esthetic CAD/CAM zirconia meso block offers 2-in-1 versatility as it is indicated for both hybrid abutments and hybrid abutment crowns. The CEREC Cercon 4D Abutment Block mimics the balance of dentin and enamel contours—and channels the natural tooth—in a 3-dimensional way.
“I love the esthetics,” Dr. Titensor shared. “It’s also stronger than the previous material I was using.”
Owing to the durable zirconia material, the CEREC Cercon 4D Abutment Block delivers strength greater than 1,100 MPa, which allows for a minimum wall thickness down to 0.5 mm.
Strong, Yet Easy to Process
“It's a strong material that can easily be milled in minutes on extra fi ne mode, and it comes out with minimal post processing,” he added.
Another plus? Dr. Titensor, who uses a CEREC Primemill, said processing is “easier, quicker, with less hassle and minimal steps. That’s another match made in heaven!”
A Cement That Checks Every Box
Specifically designed for use with CEREC Cercon 4D, Calibra Abutment Resin Cement is a fast-setting, highly opaque material that offers excellent shear bond strength to zirconia. Its ultra-opaque shade blocks undesirable substrate show-through, creating restorations that are strong and highly esthetic.
“This cement checks all the boxes and has proven reliable when paired with the Cercon 4D Abutment Block,” Dr. Titensor said. “It’s a beautiful implant crown material with a cement that does a good job not only for adhesion, but also for blocking out the metal TiBase. I can definitely see myself pivoting toward a same-day implant crown workflow with this material, and anytime I can eliminate appointments for patients, they’re happy, which makes me happy!”
