VALO X: More than
Just a Curing Light

With a 12.5-mm lens, two curing modes, intuitive operation, and the option to work corded or cordless, the new VALO X is a next-generation curing light

Dr. Jaimee' Morgan has relied on Ultradent’s VALO curing lights in her office for years. So, when her dental team started hearing rumors about a new VALO light hitting the market, they knew they wanted to add it to their office as soon as possible. The office has been using the most recent model, the VALO X, since August, and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Here, Dr. Morgan explains why.

Every version of the VALO curing light has been so perfect, to the point where every time Ultradent releases a new model, we can’t imagine where they’ve found room for improvement. We initially went for the corded VALO because of its sleek design; it fit perfectly into a handpiece holder on the assistant’s side. We added the cordless version to keep on the doctors’ orthodontic bracket tables, which has sped up orthodontic bracket placement and allowed us to move faster when placing and curing composites. It’s like a dance. The assistant is putting adhesive resin on the bracket while I'm curing the previous bracket. We love the VALO Grand, too, because it cures a wider surface area than previous lights.

Improved Coverage, Sleeker Design

While I didn’t feel there was anything to improve on, the enhancements made to the VALO X are amazing. For starters, the lens size is larger than the VALO Grand, allowing for complete molar coverage. The sleeker design is nice, too, and the new rechargeable battery is extremely long lasting. I don’t have to keep a charging stand on my counter. It also can be used without a battery and plugged into an outlet instead. These types of options are important!

Larger Lens Size

The new lens on the VALO X covers an entire molar. Other lights don’t, so I have to cure the same restoration multiple times to ensure all aspects are being exposed to the right amount of light to properly cure the entire restoration. The 12.5-mm lens also surrounds orthodontic brackets, which means we are faster at getting those brackets bonded to teeth. That’s a win for me and the patient.

Based on Science

We do so much bonding in our practice, and the research behind the VALO X gives me confidence that we are getting the breadth and depth of cure we absolutely need. We have a saying in our practice: “We don’t rely on gimmicks; we rely on science.” As a private practitioner, I can’t afford not to have sound, long-lasting restorations. I would never trust my dentistry and reputation to a gimmicky light without proof that it’s going to do the job.

Unique Features Make VALO X Shine

For me, the increased lens size and the ability to cycle through Standard and Xtra Power curing modes with the flick of a wrist are what really make VALO X stand out. Additionally, White and Black Light Diagnostic Aid modes help with shade matching and caries diagnosis. This is so much more than just a curing light!
