VOCO: CleanJoy
Available in 3 flavors and uniquely color-coded grit options, CleanJoy prophy paste features a smooth, non-sandy consistency that is easy to rinse off
While all patients hope to leave their hygiene appointment with a clean and healthy oral environment, ending their visit with a gritty or poor-tasting prophy paste can leave them with a bad taste in their mouths—no matter how clean it is.
Enter CleanJoy, a fluoride- and xylitol-containing prophy paste from VOCO. Thanks to optimized filler particles and Fine Dual Filler technology, it minimizes splatter and offers a smooth patient experience without the dreaded sandy feeling.
Alicia Murria, a Washington, D.C.-based hygienist and speaker who is passionate about oral-systemic health, has been using this non-gritty prophy paste for the past few months and appreciates its minimally abrasive and low splatter formulation, as well as 3 patient-pleasing flavor options—fresh mint, fruity cherry, and sweet caramel. “I’ve had many patients tell me that they like the taste,” said Murria.
"One thing that sets CleanJoy apart from other prophy pastes is that there's basically no grit left behind, which patients love.”

Uniquely Color-Coded Grit Options
CleanJoy comes in 3 color-coded grit options with varying levels of intensity to combat plaque and staining. A unique traffic light system makes it easy to choose the right paste for each patient: the green paste removes light plaque and can be used as a final polishing paste; the yellow paste removes light to medium plaque; and the red paste gently yet effectively removes severe or persistent plaque and staining.
“I really like the stoplight system because I can identify the appropriate grit with less effort,” said Murria. “It's easier to avoid confusion over which paste to use on which patient—for example, you wouldn't want to use a coarse paste on a child unless you needed to.”
Even the coarse paste won’t leave patients with a gritty or sandy feeling, and the amount of rinsing required after using the paste is minimal. “One thing that sets CleanJoy apart from other prophy pastes is that there's basically no grit left behind, which patients love,” said Murria.
Thanks to CleanJoy’s non-grittiness and easy rinsing, Murria finds that it is an ideal precursor to applying VOCO’s Profluorid Varnish, a 5% sodium fluoride transparent varnish. “I have a lot of faith in knowing that CleanJoy and Profluorid Varnish are a good combination,” she noted.
In addition to being minimally abrasive, CleanJoy is gluten-, nut-, and paraben-free, which makes it suitable for patients with varying clinical scenarios. “Because it has low abrasion, CleanJoy is suitable for virtually every patient—including those with implants, crowns, or ceramic restorations,” shared Murria. “So, why would you not want to use it?
