Daniel Marrano has been surrounded by dentistry for as long as he can remember. His uncle practices dentistry, his brother became a lab tech, and today he’s married to an orthodontist. After becoming a certified dental technician and drawing on skills he learned as a former computer technician—plus mentoring from his brother—he opened his own dental lab in 2013, Marrano Dental Arts in Douglassville, PA.

“I started to really excel as a lab technician when we transitioned into digital because it was some-thing I was already familiar with, especially designing on the computer more often,” Marrano explained. “We’ve always been big on investing in digital technology like 3D printers, and I’ve used a ton of resins.”

Clarity Meets Compatibility

For the past 6 months, Marrano and his lab team have been sampling several Zirlux 3D Print Resins, which are available exclusively through Henry Schein.

“Zirlux has a wide range of options available, from models to night guards," he said. "They’re quality resins—they’re esthetic and they print cleanly and easily. We haven’t had a failure with any of them yet, and we’ve gone through many bottles of each. It’s a material we can go back to and rely on.”

Zirlux 3D Print Resins provide high value, resistance to staining, and smooth, clear surfaces that reduce polishing time. "I’m really liking the Zirlux Nightguard & Splint Flexible material, and I’m offering it to our accounts for full-arch zirconia cases as an added-value service," Marrano said. "Particularly when pairing night guards with our Asiga printer and the UltraGLOSS material tray, the esthetics of the Zirlux resins are exceptional. We used to struggle getting that clarity from 3D-printed night guards, but now, we finally have it."

Zirlux resins have been extensively validated on industry-leading printers for easy workflow integration, whether printing models, surgical guides, night guards, or gingival masks. “Compatibility across the platforms is pretty large, and it's growing,” Marrano said. “That includes most of the major 3D printer brands, including curing units for night guards.”

Rely on Schein

Running a successful dental lab and stocking all the equipment and materials needed to deliver quality dental work to customers is no easy task.

“I like Henry Schein because it's a 1-stop shop for all your needs, especially when it comes to digital,” Marrano shared. “If you buy your Asiga printer and resin from Henry Schein and then you have a problem, you have 1 place you go to for your support. You're not being bounced between 2 suppliers pointing fingers at each other. And with the size of Henry Schein, they always have the products we need, so we’re not running into supply issues.”

Plus, he's had the same Henry Schein rep for nearly 2 decades, ever since he became a lab tech. “With Henry Schein, I have a familiar face I can turn to.”
