Over the years, CBCT has grown to play an important role in dental treatment planning and diagnosis. Producing high-quality scans that can be manipulated and visualized with software, CBCT provides clinicians with an unprecedented level of visibility and information allowing for more accurate, effective patient care. As a result, CBCT has found key applications in many areas of dentistry including, but not limited to, implant placement, bone quality studies, pathology, periodontics and endodontics.
Building on their previous advancements in DICOM image processing and software visualization, PreXion has launched the PreXion3D Excelsior CBCT scanner. The PreXion3D Excelsior couples clear, detailed imaging with powerful, intuitive software to deliver exceptional visibility and usability.
With the PreXion3D Excelsior, PreXion has improved upon all core technologies from its previous CBCT offerings including the X-Ray Tube and Flat Panel Detector (FPD) for both CT and cephalometric. The scanner boasts a focal spot of just 0.3mm along with a voxel size of 0.1–0.2mm, 1024 volume size and 360-degree gantry rotation, enabling high-clarity, large volume rendering. For optimal visualization, operators can select from four distinct field of view (FOV) sizes and choose from a range of volume sizes and preset scan modes. The PreXion3D Excelsior delivers a 30% lower patient radiation dose than current PreXion CBCT levels, ensuring ALARA-compliant operation without compromising image quality.
Developed with ease-of-use in mind, the PreXion3D Excelsior features a dedicated 2D pan mode option along with a large 7” touchscreen allowing for immediate and intuitive device set up and usage. Like all PreXion3D CBCT scanners, the PreXion3D Excelsior comes bundled with proprietary visualization software for evaluating 2D panoramic, 2D cephalometric and 3D images. Designed to readily integrate with customer networks, PreXion3D Viewer software reconstructs to DICOM 3.0 format and is compatible with all DICOM compliant third-party implant surgical guide and CAD/DICOM-merging software programs. The PreXion3D Viewer software can be installed on any Windows PC and scans can be viewed from any computer on the network.
