The Tech Tips posted on the ClearCorrect website clarify, and I do mean make clear, a whole bunch of technical issues related to providing clear aligners for your patients. And here’s something I didn’t know about the process: interproximal reduction (IPR). Orthodontists weren’t doing that when I had braces (a long, long time ago).

This post, “Tech Tip: Best practices for IPR,” breaks out the important things you need to keep in mind when determining if and when to perform an IPR, how to prepare for doing the procedure, and what you should communicate about the case to ClearCorrect, the patient/parents, and any assisting team members. You will find in this tip step-by-step instructions describing what types of instruments to use and in what order, how to angulate the cuts so you don’t ruin the appearance of the teeth, how to check your progress, what to do while you are breaking contacts, and how to simplify documentation of the IPR in the patient record.

That is how I like to approach things—read the directions, follow a checklist, document the steps, note the success of the outcome, and have peace of mind that I didn’t overlook any details or forget something. For a successful outcome, that just makes sense. (I'm still perfecting the process!)
