Guidor Easy-Graft Classic Alloplastic Bone Grafting Material: An Alternative to Human or Animal Bone Graft

Some patients refuse to receive cadaveric (human allograft) or animal (xenograft: porcine, bovine) bone graft substitutes.

They may have religious or philosophical reasons, be vegan or vegetarian, or just find it unappealing. Having an option for those patients keeps them in your practice. Sunstar’s GUIDOR® easy-graft® Classic Alloplastic Bone Grafting material is 100% synthetic, with no substances of animal or human origin.

Guidor Easy-GraftGUIDOR easy-graft is fully resorbable, and is the first mouldable, alloplastic, particulate bone grafting material that can be syringed directly into a bone defect, where it will harden within minutes into a stable, porous scaffold. This makes it ideal for socket preservation and for implant packing after tooth extraction. Its high porosity and osteoconductivity ensure that the graft will be stable and the clinical results more predictable.

The GUIDOR easy-graft Classic Alloplastic Bone Grafting System is a complete kit, which eliminates the need to identify what type of liquid (blood or saline) to mix with the granules.

It comes in a unit-dose syringe of β-tricalcium phosphate granules coated with a biodegradable polymer, and an ampule of a liquid activator called BioLinker. When these are mixed together, BioLinker softens the polymer coating and creates a sticky surface that can be compressed and shaped. GUIDOR easy-graft hardens in about 1 minute, giving the user plenty of time to shape the graft.

Most clinicians surveyed preferred using the GUIDOR easy-graft because they found the preparation and placement to be simpler and faster than other bone graft materials, and because a dental membrane is not required in many cases.*

Indications for GUIDOR easy-graft include:

• intraoral/maxillofacial osseous defects
• extraction defects (alveolar ridge preservation)
• periodontal defects
• peri-implant defects
• guided bone regeneration
• sinus floor augmentation
• defects after surgical extractions
• defects after removal of bone cysts
• defects after root resection or apicoectomy
• defects after removal of autologous bone

The only contraindications are use in pregnant or nursing women, and possible eye, respiratory, or skin irritation in some patients.

GUIDOR easy-graft provides a predictable way to replace and preserve alveolar bone for a variety of procedures in patients who will not accept bone graft substitutes from either a cadaveric or animal bone source. Its safety and clinical success have been proven in more than 250,000 applications** worldwide and clinical research.
