Isovac: Hands-free Retraction, Isolation, Evacuation

Dentists rely on dental assistants. Hygienists probably wouldn’t mind having hygiene assistants. And sometimes assistants need assistance.

The Isovac, from Isolight Systems (now Zyris), is essentially like having an extra hand, or pair of them, as the case may be.

This mouthpiece provides hands-free retraction, isolation, and evacuation all at once. Isovac isolates two (maxillary and mandibular) quadrants simultaneously while providing tongue/cheek retraction and continuous suction at the same time.

It is portable and adapts to your existing HVE valve or saliva ejector, so it can be shared among dentists and hygienists wherever they need it. Suction can be adjusted per quadrant for increased control in the treatment area.Using Isovac hands-free dental vacuum on patient

While its clinical applications are practically limitless, Isovac is ideal for use during restorative procedures, ultrasonic scaling and root planing, applying sealants, and during routine prophylaxis appointments.

The lightweight polymer mouthpiece is comfortable for patients, even for extended periods. It also has a built-in bite block so patients are more relaxed and comfortable during treatment.

Isovac protects the airway, greatly reducing the chances of aspiration, as well as aerosolic particles during hygiene procedures.

It provides two channels of continuous suction with a single hose. And it comes in five sizes (pediatric, small, medium, medium DV, and large).

Dental Product Shopper Evaluators have said it’s easy to set up, doesn’t require any special hoses or attachments, and does not impede ultrasonic cleaning or access for restorative procedures, which require good isolation, retraction, and continuous suction. Isovac keeps the mouth dry and the oral cavity clearly visible. This not only results in improved and consistent outcomes, it might just keep everyone on schedule.
