Solmetex Donates 90 Hg5 Collection Containers to Mission of Mercy Clinics

An amalgam separator might not be among the first couple of items you think of when setting up a new practice.

But what about when you’re running a mobile clinic in an underserved area?

You might not consider it an essential item for providing care to those in need.

But by potentially contaminating the local water supply, you could be doing more harm to the people you’re trying to help than good by not having one. That’s why Solmetex continues to support America’s Dentists Care Foundation’s Mission of Mercy effort. Earlier this year, the company donated 90 collection containers, worth $30,000, from its Hg5 line to ADCF. That donation ensures that every Mission of Mercy clinic this year had and will have NXT Hg5 Collection Container on hand for amalgam separation during every clinic Mission of Mercy hosts this year.

Through Missions of Mercy, those who cannot afford dental care and have often gone many years without seeing a dentist, are able to receive free care. Mission of Mercy has treated more than 254,000 children and adults and provided more than $166 million in care since 2003. In the mobile clinics, patients are treated with dignity and without judgment, and if they need additional treatment, they are referred to an area dentist who will provide that care for free.

Solmetex’s amalgam separators easily collect and remove mercury from dental wastewater,

preventing the mercury from contaminating the water supply. When the container is full, the practice returns the container for recycling and receives a new container to continue collecting harmful mercury. As of July, 2017, amalgam separators are now required for most practices nationwide by the federal government.

“Solmetex is proud to be associated with a world class organization such as America’s Dentist Care Foundation and Mission of Mercy. Their dedication to providing dental care to those in need, in a safe and friendly environment is truly life changing, to not only those who receive care, but also to those who volunteer their time and services,” said Michael Toole, Solmetex’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
