Panasil lab putty and lab putty soft
Like many clinicians, you may already know about Kettenbach’s award-winning Panasil A silicone line.
What you may find surprising is that the Panasil line includes two superior choices of lab putty that lab professionals can use to create successful impressions.
Both Panasil lab Putty and lab Putty Soft have all of the advantages of an A silicone: Dimensionally stable material, high impression reproduction ability, and a linear dimension change of less than 0.1%. They’re kneadable, vinyl polysiloxane-based, addition-curing 1:1 overcast materials that lab professionals can use for a variety of impressions for predictable, stable results time after time.
Each putty product can be cleanly and easily dispensed, without the need for a messy accelerator.
Plus, both are easily cut, and generate a high final hardness, but not before the user has nearly two minutes of working time.
However, the hardness level differs between products, meaning they’re ideal for different indications.
Panasil lab Putty Soft has an immediate Shore Hardness of A-73, which is a rating just slightly higher than that of a car tire, and a final Shore Hardness after 24 hours of A-75. This hardness makes it a smart choice for creating overcasts because the Putty Soft requires less force to remove from undercuts, or of a matrix on a diagnostic wax-up without damaging teeth.
Panasil lab Putty’s Shore Hardness is a little higher (A-85, with a final rating of A-90); it can be your go-to for fabricating duplication models, or to use when repairing fractures and cracks in the prosthesis. It’s actually stiff enough to mimic a stone model for duplication in most indications. The Panasil Lab putty will often be used as a tool for restorative space analysis and can also be used as an outer shell in combination with Lab Putty Soft as a matrix for direct restorations.
