According to the EPA, dental practices discharge 3.7 tons of mercury to Publicly-Owned Treatment Works facilities each year and dental practices are the number one contributor, which can ultimately contaminate the water supply. As of July 14, 2017, a federal mandate was passed that requires certain dental offices to install an ISO 11143 certified amalgam separator to remove mercury from the waste water.
High levels of mercury in humans have been linked to diseases and ailments such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, hearing loss, chronic fatigue, reproductive issues and additional mercury-related diseases. Solmetex's NXT Hg5 meets or exceeds all state and federal requirements for the safe removal of mercury in the dental office, is ISO 11143-certified at greater than 99%, and is easy to operate and virtually maintenance free.
“[The Hg5] offers low device maintenance with very simple cartridge replacement that takes just a few minutes to perform, and I have had no additional evacuator system maintenance since we have installed this system,” said Stephen Gordon, DDS, a DPS evaluator who practices in Chicago.
Whether you have an existing practice and need to get into compliance, or if you have a new practice and want to get off to the right start with mercury disposal, you may want to consider Solmetex’s NXT Hg5 Amalgam Separator.
