Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal
Manufacturer Description: Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal features an expanded range of body shades for natural-looking, single-shade restorations. With true nanotechnology, the universal material offers the polish and polish retention of a microfill and the strength and wear properties of a hybrid, making it ideal for both anterior and posterior restorations. Filtek Supreme Ultra’s exceptional handling characteristics ensure it does not stick to instruments. The syringe and capsule labels are color-coded by opacity, and the labels have bold lettering to help users easily find the right shade.
Evaluator Feedback: When asked about Filtek Supreme Ultra’s shade match to the Vita shade guide, one dentist said, “Shade matching to the Vita shade guide is great!” This evaluator went on to say that she would definitely purchase it in the future and recommend it to colleagues.
When asked what they would like to see improved about this product, two evaluators said they would like it to be less tacky. Several evaluators noted the handling characteristics of the material with comments like “handles very well,” “good feel to the material,” and “good handling characteristics.” Versatility was also rated highly by the evaluators. A dentist from Teaneck, NJ, said, “Product is a good versatile composite. It serves a purpose as a good all-around composite.”
Scotchbond Universal
Manufacturer Description: Scotchbond Universal is designed to be used in total-, self-, and selective-etch techniques, making it very versatile. Without using an additional primer, Scotchbond Universal bonds to all surfaces. For compatibility with self- or dual-cure core build-up materials, resin cements, or composites, the adhesive can be combined with Scotchbond Universal DCA Dual Cure activator. Scotchbond Universal comes in a flip-top vial for ease of dispensing. In addition, studies have shown that when used in total-etch or self-etch modes, Scotchbond Universal results in virtually no postoperative sensitivity.
Evaluator Feedback: Ease of use was noted by many of the evaluators as their favorite feature. One evaluator described Scotchbond Universal as “easy to dispense and use.” Another evaluator said, “All-in-one combinations allow less product space and fewer items to track.” An evaluator from Phoenix, AZ, commented on the “reduced sensitivity in [restorations] done with Scotchbond vs my normal bonding agent.” This evaluator said she would definitely purchase and recommend Scotchbond Universal.
