BioRoot Flow
Dispensed in a ready-to-use syringe, this bioactive and biocompatible mineral root canal sealer flows directly into canals for successful obturation with a cold or warm technique
Root canals are dreaded by patients, so any material or technique that makes it quicker, easier, and more reliable is sure to be a welcome relief for both the patient and the dentist. Septodont’s latest-generation bioactive root canal sealer, BioRoot Flow, is the perfect solution to make obturation easier for everyone involved. A hydrophilic mineral sealer made from pure raw materials, BioRoot Flow features a prep-free syringe delivery and bioactive properties that reduce the risk of adverse reactions and ensure optimal obturation regardless of the complexity of the treatment and the technique employed.
It’s important to “know with confidence that the materials used [for a root canal] all contribute to a successful treatment,” shared Dr. Edward Lew, who believes that mineral-based root canal sealers should be the standard for endodontically-treated teeth. Because of its “desired bioactive properties and high radiopacity,” Dr. Lew was eager to try BioRoot Flow and discovered, “I love the delivery system, and it has great seal and adhesion to gutta percha points.” With patients reporting “no major discomfort after treatment,” Dr. Lew is confident that “sealing hard-toreach second molars is a worry of the past with this delivery system.”
Ease of Dispensing & Delivery
The pre-mixed BioRoot Flow formula eliminates prep time, and bendable 21-gauge tips ensure precise and direct placement in all root canal anatomies while limiting the risk of overfilling. Limited plunger resistance and an anatomic finger grip simplify extrusion, and the sealer can be easily removed if necessary. With a working time of >60 minutes, exceptional flowability, high radiopacity, and the flexibility to use with any obturation technique, BioRoot Flow encourages reproducible endodontic success.
“Because it’s pre-mixed, it’s consistently perfect and very easy to dispense into each canal,” noted Dr. Jonathan Dubin. Dr. Krista Kappus said it’s “easy to use, easy to clean up, and not messy,” and Dr. Paul Chaiken said, “The lack of mixing and delivery tip made obturation very easy.” Calling BioRoot Flow “easy to dispense with good handling,” Dr. Jason Wetmore said it’s “an easy-to-use, smooth replacement for our traditional two-part, hand-mixed sealer.”
Pleased that BioRoot Flow helps streamline his workflow, Dr. Emery Cole called it “beneficial in difficult-to-access canals and for patients with limited opening,” and Dr. Lew likes to “pre-bend the tips to the desired angle.” Noting that the “setting time made it challenging to use in a multi-canalled root,” Dr. David Fang said it “set up well enough to do a prefab post/core in the same visit.” Endodontist Alan Sedell said, “It didn’t appear to set too quickly, making repositioning gutta percha points relatively easy.”
Effective Filling/Sealing of Canals
Indicated for permanent root canal filling in combination with gutta-percha points, BioRoot Flow seeks residual water in canals and tubules and penetrates radicular canals without compaction. According to Septodont, the material remains stable with no shrinkage, gaps, or voids, hermetically sealing the canal with tight adhesion to dentin and gutta percha using warm, cold, or single-cone techniques.
“Direct injection in prepared canals provides a superior result in less time,” shared Dr. Gary Johnson, and Dr. Fang said, “The viscosity lent itself to creating a good periapical seal.” Dr. Cole “performed multiple root canals without complication,” and Dr. Wetmore obtained “nice fills on warm obturation techniques.” Although she thought the formula was a bit too runny, endodontist Grace Chu said it “works great in very tight curvatures and allowed my master cone to slide in easily with less friction.” Because of the sealer’s hydrophilicity, Dr. Lew feels “less stress when sealing in cases where it’s hard to get complete isolation.”
"The sealer has a record of superior biological properties due to its chemistry."

Bioactivity/Lack of Postop Sensitivity
Septodont’s Active Biosilicate Technology eliminates impurities, while biocompatible calcium silicate produces favorable tissue response and limits adverse reactions. The sealer’s bioactive properties trigger calcium ion release for increased mineralization, and the alkaline pH and airtight seal inhibit bacteria growth over time. “The sealer has a record of superior biological properties due to its chemistry, and the high-purity tricalcium silicate minimizes the risk of contamination seen with similar products,” explained Dr. Johnson.
“I completed molar endo on a very sensitive No. 2 with a slight bit of excess sealer on both mesial and distal canals, and the patient did not report any postop discomfor,” shared Dr. Kappus. Calling it a “good product when apical extrusion of sealer is likely,” Dr. Wetmore had no issues with sensitivity, and Dr. Raymond Wozny reported “minimal inflammation response and the patients were completely comfortable.”
Overall Satisfaction
BioRoot Flow gives Dr. Fang “more options for challenging cases,” and Dr. Johnson said he enjoyed its “ease of use, superior chemistry, and superior biologic properties.” BioRoot Flow “checks all the boxes for a good sealer,” noted Dr. Dubin, and Dr. Sedell concluded, “I felt confident the end result would be more than acceptable each time I used it.”
