NSK describes the Ti-Max Z 95L as a durable, high-performing handpiece. Eight dentists used it in their practices for 4 weeks. They rated and commented on several features, including ease of use, weight and ergonomics, visibility in the oral cavity, perceived power and torque, and noise level.

Ease of Use and Noise Level

Manufacturer Description: The Ti-Max Z 95L performs at a remarkably low noise level with virtually no vibration. The gears are covered with a special diamond-like carbon coating designed to enhance gear longevity and minimize the noise level.

Evaluator Feedback: All of the evaluators rated ease of use of the Ti-Max Z 95L handpiece as excellent or very good. In addition, noise level was rated excellent or very good by 6 of the 8 evaluators. An evaluator from Encino, CA, with 30 years of experience, described the handpiece as "quiet and smooth." He went on to say that he would definitely purchase the Ti-Max Z 95L in the future and would recommend it to his colleagues. Another evaluator said, "This handpiece is so much quieter and there is so much less vibration than [other handpieces]." Weight and Ergonomics

Manufacturer Description: The Ti-Max Z 95L has a solid titanium body that is 30% lighter than stainless steel. The reduced weight and balanced shape provide users with improved tactile sensitivity.

Evaluator Feedback: "I really loved the weight and overall balance during drilling," said an evaluator from Rocklin, CA. Seven evaluators rated weight and ergonomics as excellent or very good.

Visibility

Manufacturer Description: NSK describes the Ti-Max Z 95L as having the smallest head and slimmest neck dimensions among all electric handpiece competitors. In addition, the head and body shape are described as improving access to the molar region.

Evaluator Feedback: An evaluator from Henderson, NV, said, "The Ti-Max Z 95L's head is about 2 mm shorter than their previous model, making access easier on 2nd and 3rd molars." He went on to say that he found the Ti-Max Z 95L to be much better than similar handpieces. He also suggested that the delivery system "could be improved with an internal delivery system, removing some of the exposed hoses and wiring."

Performance--Power and Torque

Manufacturer Description: The lightweight and slimmer head of Ti-Max Z 95L does not minimize power and torque. NSK describes the handpiece as high-performing.

Evaluator Feedback: Handpiece performance was rated as excellent or very good by 7 of the 8 evaluators. One evaluator said that he liked "the small head size with no loss of torque." Another evaluator noted that the torque provided by the handpiece was one of his favorite features, along with smooth cutting and reduced noise.
